    Broken electric rear window

If you look on E-Bay there are reaplacement cables, but if the plastic guides (at each end of the metal strut) are broken you are probably looking at a complete new regulator unit. Same happened to me (as usual on a car park in the middle of nowhere set for a family day out)- the window...

    Our Brilliant PM

I've checked me log book and for an 02 TD4 it is shown with 205g of carbon dioxides- that means the road tax should ONLY (Ha Ha) go up to £300 then £310 afterwards- not £400.

    td4 2002 replacing 15" for 16" why dont fit ?

All Freelanders have drag when on full lock. There are loads of threads on the forum if you search. All down to the full time 4x4 system and the VCU.

    td4 mpg

:) I get about 450 miles to a tank of fuel, probably get more but I like to fill up before the little orange light comes on... Not sat and worked it out but 'spose its about 40mpg.

    reversing lights not working

Is it auto or manual? On early manual 'boxes the switch is located underneath the gearbox, on later manuals it is located at the top of the box on the passenger side- if you jack up the front and lie under the near side front wheel and look through the gap by the anti-roll bar and engine tray...

    Axle bush

Most likely is the rear diff bush. Is there a clunking noise when changing gear? It is usually the front bush that gives up the ghost, but there are 3 fitted- one at the front and one on the left and right of the diff. Cost is about £12 for the front bush and £30 for each of the left and...

    rear wheels squealing

Rear wheels on mine churn up the gravel when turning on full lock either left or right. Led me to think VCU was fooked. Did all the usual checks, sweated a lot, checked bank balance, spoke to loads of people in the know and drove other Gaylanders both new and older. Have now convinced myself...

    Britpart VCU Damper Repair

Never tried with a torque wrench, but I do know that it takes a lot of effort. I thought I may have had a problem with my VCU so have gone through exactly what you are now. Spoke to loads of people- Land Rover dealers and independants as well as people such as Ashcroft Transmissions. Have...

    Rear wheel drive

Oh yeah, If the diff is moving about sounds like a bush is worn. It will still drive OK but on changing gear you may hear a clunking noise. Get a pry bar onto each bush and try to move them about, if one is u/s then it will be obvious as there will be a lot more play in it than in the others.

    Rear wheel drive

Jack up the front and try to turn each wheel. They will be very difficult to move if drive is being transmitted as it should. If a drive shaft is broken at the front then the wheel on the offending side should turn freely as the effect of turning the wheel is not being transferred through the...

    Rear wheel drive

Knock from rear diff sounds like the front diff mounting bush is fooked, could be the others but is usually the front one. As for no drive at the front, as Northern Irelander ses if no drive at the front there should be no drive at the back as drive is transmitted from the IRD to the rear...

    Britpart VCU Damper Repair

Oh yes, one other thing the fitter who looked at mine was using a 3foot power bar to turn the prop, so had quite a lot of leverage.

    Britpart VCU Damper Repair

Gaylanders are permanent 4 wheel drive with about 20% of drive going to the back wheels, the rest to the front. Try jacking up both front and rear wheels on the same side, at the same time and repeat the test. This was demonstarted to me 'cos I thought I had a problem when I got mine.

    Reversing Lights fooked

Hello all, Reversing lights packed up last night. Have checked both bulbs and are OK. Have also checked continuity of swith and me old tester beeps like a good un when reverse is selected, but doesn't give any reading for a voltage output. Fuse is OK. Could this still be the switch that is...

    Fuel burning heater

Thanks Willo, will try that out. Have been doing some reading on these things and it appears that there may be an ECU on the heater that logs upto 3 faults. Could it be that the heater locks itself out after 3 faults and needs to be reset? Why is everything in life so complicated...I only...

    data cable for freelander

Bought a self contained code reader/reset tool from Gendan for 'er indoors car. Have also used it on my 02 Gaylander TD4. Communicates with TD4 but I have had no errors (is it only me?) to reset. Unit reads EOBD and EOBDII codes and is supplied with a list of the generic codes used. Most...

    Fuel burning heater

Took inner wing off and checked pins on FBH. There is no wire to pin 1 (its blanked off) but pin 3 is fed from temp sensor switch. Pin 3 is also shown on rave as feed from Temp sensor. I am now REALLY confused. Any and all ideas trul;y welcome...
