    17" Tyre choice

Exactly, thats why I was wondering if anyone had fitted this size of tyre to a 17" rim. Obviously all 5 tyres would be changed at the same time, but only if they will fit in the arches......

    17" Tyre choice

Hello all, I have an 02 gaylander with 17" rims. Dont like the 55 profile, harsh ride and succeptible (dunno if I've spelled that right) to kerbing (blame 'er indoors for that). What is the highest profile anyone has managed to fit on a 17 inch rim? Would a 235/65/17 be a possibility? I...

    Tyre size advice please....

Ive also fitted 215/80/15 Insa Saharas. No rubbing etc, and do give a bit of a lift. Great in snow and off road.

    Feckin' noise...

Ive now replaced the new ****part bearings with nice shiny GKN ones. What noise? Bliss.

    does not move!

This works: Remove brake drum and look at the lever on the bottom of the shoe where the cable attaches. This is the bit that usually sticks. Remove and use a hammer and drift to hit the top of the rivet(pivot) holding the lever, but ensure mechanism is supported from other side. This will...

    Stcky NSF Brake Caliper

Simple fix....replaced the pistons and seals in both calipers, and hey presto sorted. Main stealer stated that I could only replace caliper as unit and couldnt be stripped and rebuilt- hundreds and hundreds of my hard earned cash he wanted. Pistons were £10 each, seals came with pistons. Much...

    No Timing Belt

Not sure about the xedi, but the petrol had a timing belt, and the td4 had a timing chain, which doesnt need to be replaced. You sure its not a chain shown for the xedi?

    FBH always running

The temp sensor switch is located behind the bumper. I got to mine by cutting a flap in the mesh grill, so didnt take the bumper off. Once switch replaced, i just folded the flap back down. Can hardly tell. The switch doesnt operate at exactly 5 degrees though, this is more of a guide. The...

    Clutch Problem

I had exactly the same problem/symptoms. I changed the master cylinder, not a big job, and its been fine ever since. Hope this helps.

    Steel Wheels

Mick I found that the choice of rims for the Freelander very limited. Basically, if you want steelies its the genuine part or nothing, so no choice of offset. There are loads of after market alloys, most were 17" and above, no good if you want to fit any kind of all terrain or mud tyre...

    Steel Wheels

Hope this works......never tried to put pics on before. The cap just sits in the recess of the rim, pressed against the lip of the hub. Because they are rubber, the wheel doesnt need to be removed to fit them. They deform just enough to slot in.

    Steel Wheels

Couldnt find that this had been covered before, so here goes..... Having managed to get a set of 5 steelies off flea bay at a bargain price, imagine my surprise when the hub covers would have cost me more than the rims.... I was quoted around £20 EACH!!!!! I know how important it is to keep...

    Feckin' noise...

Vibration from a rough bearing is the least of your worries with a gaylander drivetrain.....

    Feckin' noise...

Sorted the noise problem. Ive fitted a set of 215/80/15 Insa Saharas....cant hear the prop bearings for the tyre noise. Bliss, reminds me of a series II I had once........:D

    Feckin' noise...

Prop bearings were u/s, so replaced them earlier this year, but left the Gaylander in Mondo mode over the summer. Marked up props when they were dropped. Now, since putting the props back on there is a rumbling, whining noise from the centre of the Gaylander, that wasnt there before. Used...

    Hawkeye Diagnostic

Has anyone tried one of these Omitec based Bearmach diagnostic tools? Considering buying one as sick of 3 amigos and so on on me Gaylander? Anyone know if they are worth getting hold of? Any info on experiences with them very welcome.

    Prop bearings

:confused::confused::confused: I need to change the propshaft bearings on my 02 td4. Doesnt seem to be to great a task, but, and apologies if this has already been asked (I have searched, honest....) but why can you not take each prop off individually, then then remove VCU and...

    Stcky NSF Brake Caliper

Cheers for that steely, but already tried it. It doesnt seem as though anything is sticking at all when I take the caliper off and try it, and for a few days its fine, then it sticks on. Might just bite the bullet and replace the caliper, already spent over half the cost of a new one on...

    Stcky NSF Brake Caliper

Help!! I've tried searching, but to no avail.... The NSF caliper has started to stick on my 02 TD4 Gaylander. Sliders are OK, and greased up (looklike new) piston lovely clean and shiny. Replaced dust cover on piston and when I unbolt caliper, push ****pot back in and get someone to press...
