Slacken the 3 bolts, and advance without the bit in if you need to advance it a little further. Think I had to advance mine by about 5mm. As James says, if it's knocking, you've gone too far.

Well tbh unless you hook it up to an emissions tester, your unlikely to see or feel much difference! The difference will show itself at MOT time. Also, the diesel we use these days is very low in sulfur, and so its lubricating properties are pretty poor. A shot of that stuff every so often is...

I'll second plus gas, absolutely fantastic stuff, I haven't failed to get a bolt out yet. Just apply it liberally the night before you start the job, then again just before you start, and your off to go.

I was under the impression that the pump was self priming? Whenever I've changed my diesel filter, I just start her up and let it idle for a few mins, and she's ready to go. I'd have thought the bigger question would be, is your battery up to turning the engine over enough times to get her going.

Could be partly combusted diesel, could have a dribbling injector or something like that. I think I'd start by having the injectors tested before investigating more dire engine issues. Is the blue smoke more notable at a specific RPM?

If your referring to the new shape Navara, its absolutely terrible. My uncle is on his second turbo and 3rd rear diff. If you want any more confirmation, check out the yahoo reviews on it. Many blame Renault's involvement in its design for its associated problems, so I'd be careful and research...

I checked with three MOT stations before I put mine on, who all said yes it's fine to wire into main beam. There are EU positioning requirements, but provided they're symmetrical, I don't think you'll be pulled up on it. Max bulb rating is 55W though, the 100W bulbs you see are for off road use...

I've seen whole scrap discos going for around £250...might be worth you searching round for one and using the engine!

Well it's seems to be a rubber effort, stuck to the back of the pad, but not to the sides. I'd have thought plenty of copper grease on the sides would stop the pad from seizing? I can understand that it would stop rattling against the piston though, that makes sense. Cheers mate!
