in need of a good anti theft idea please.

As previously said, if they want it they will ultimately take it! All you can do is make it as awkward as possible to deter the opportunists. My series 3 has a Hella battery isolator fitted. Remove the key inside the vehicle and it breaks the live feed from the battery to everything else. Not...

Testing if 4WD is actually working

Simples, I will give a go when I get in. In 4wd, no spin, in 2WD front should spin on its merry way! Cheers all. Adie:)

Testing if 4WD is actually working

Morning all This might seem a stupid question, but how do I check if 4 wheel drive is actually working when the yellow selector is down? Completely new to land rovers (as you may have guessed!):o Cheers Adie

    Bearing type screetch noise

Hi all thanks for the replies, The only place I found any oil was in the free wheeling hub on that 1 side. The brake drum was bone dry. There wasn't loads, probably 100mls or so but just enough to wash the bearing. No idea how long its been in there either, but that's the side that has rotted...

    Bearing type screetch noise

Ok, just to update............ Got the landy up in the air the weekend. Both wheels off and sorted the brake issue first, spring fitted to where it should be and hey presto it now stops! :o Spun the wheels and checked for play on both sides and as before all seemed ok. Now mine is fitted...

    Bearing type screetch noise

Hmmm I did pull the top spring (the one that was off just below the wheel cylinder) across the two shoes... Is the Landy set up different from everything else as that's what I have done on just about every set of brake shoes I have ever done  As for the fan belt/water pump possibility...

    Bearing type screetch noise

Hi I adjusted that one wheel once I got the peg back on. clockwise until it starts to bind than backed off a gnats. I didn't check any of the others so perhaps they have all been adjusted to compensate for the dodgy one in the past. Cheers Adie

Hi, cheers for the reply. Are they a grease nipple fill or just splodge a bit and work it in? Cheers Adie

    Bearing type screetch noise

Hi all I took the Landy on a trip from Essex to Wales a couple of weeks ago..... on the way home, the old girl developed a bit of a screech from what I thought was a wheel bearing. Got it up in the air yesterday to find both sides seemed fine. I changed the drivers side anyway as I...

    Essex Newbie

Hi All Just bought myself a 1974 series 3 2.3 petrol SWB Landy:D Its noisy, leaks like a sieve from the roof (the wife has already christened it Walter as in water!), and gets a bit fumey inside after a longish drive... but we love it! lol No doubt will be on here picking...
