Ok thanks for that guys. Looks like a new wheelbox is the way forward, looks like a bit of a fiddle. But on the plus side if I'm replacing the whole lot I can do a bodge job with some superglue until the parts arrive without worrying about wrecking anything else. Hopefully it'll just stop raining!
