    6.50 tyres & series wheels

I had an odd encounter with wheel nuts on my new to me Series 3 yesterday. The first wheel came off easily but the brace kept slipping off the nuts on the other wheels. I thought I had earlier series flat nuts on but they were series 3 that had been turned around the wrong way. It also didn't...

As with many old vehicles you become the caretaker of, the job list keeps growing as you discover more required work. The next thing to be tackled is the coolant as it hasn't been changed in a very long time. Things rarely go to plan, the radiator drain plug has been rounded off and the hose...

    Series 3 petrol trouble shooting

I've just been through this last week with my series 3, it was running poorly so I replaced the usual serviceable items and it ran even worse. At first I overlooked the carb because it looked new, but alarm bells rang because they no longer make them and therefore it was most likely a copy...

The LWB looks very much at home in that environment.

    Hello and how are you!?

Lovely trucks! Good for you for using them daily, I think that's the key to a reliable series they need to be used frequently. 👍

Wherever you're in the world now, it seems there's no escaping the authorities complicating and adding to more rules and regulations. I've found odourless parrafin quickly cleans old grease off. It might work well on the old sticky glue without stinking the cabin out.

A great write up Jimbob. I agree, in the environment you live I'd take a series landy anyway.

Would a 7.50x16 fit on 5" series tubed wheel or is it not recommended? https://www.paddockspares.com/land-rover-wheels-and-tyres/general-tyres/sag-radial.html

We have been busy all day today fitting an electronic distributor and the Weber carb and what a difference it's made. The car idles well and the engine is smooth. We also adjusted the timing statically and then with a timing light gun. The engine no longer stalls at junctions so I'm a bit...

Hi JIMBOB LR Do you find parts easy to find in Kenya? I saw lots of people using the 85w90 supposedly easier to get off the shelf.

I've found trying to replace the dangerous aged 6.50 x 16 Firestones a challenge. As the landy will be used mainly on the road I was thinking about a modern tubless radial tyre. Would a 5.5 x16 steel wheel from Paddocks and a 205/80/16 A/T be a suitable replacement? I don't want to alter...

Will this be suitable? Craddocks don't put much information on the pages. https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/da2126-weber-carburettor.html
