TD4 Oil Pressure Gauge, Fitting one.

Hi, Has anyone fitted an oil pressure gauge to the TD4 ? if so did you manage to buy a tee piece or did you make one? I guess the best place to fit it would be tee'in the oil pressure switch?? Ta Paul

well that left a hole in my wallet !!

I have been in the motor engineering business for 35 years and done land rovers for 14 years, You'll probably find that these bits are Britpart who supply most of the the OEM stuff, you can always ask before buying or get direct from Britpart at these prices. OEM only means who gives the dealer...

well that left a hole in my wallet !!

You could have done it yourself for less than £600 but if you don't mind paying someone £600 to do it for you then its a good deal. My experience is that Land Rovers are one of the cheapest vehicles to maintain if you DIY. The dearest bit is the coupling at about £350 the rest is arse pocket...

MOT Fail on too much welding.

Thanks all, the chassis is going quite thin in places. The rear cross member and front dumb irons had been changed before I bought it and rear chassis is where most of the patches are. Have been using him for 10 years for MOTs so I do trust him but maybe he is mis-interpreting some info about...

MOT Fail on too much welding.

My 2a passed this time but have been told I will need a new chassis for next year as the percentage of welded areas are now on maximum. Not come across this before has anyone else ? had twice as many patches on my Range Rover and it had been passing at the same place but they said things have...

    Liftin a Freelander Sport

No Dave, I didn't know they existed. Local folks know I have always a landy or 2 knocking about and give me a call if they get stuck. I'll track them down. Cheers Paul

    Liftin a Freelander Sport

Dave, Like the idea of your 4x4 response, I have been covering that duty up here with my series during the snow rescuing the Post van and taking the nurse to remote farms. Another reason to lift the Freelander, got her belly stuck on a pile of frozen snow I thought she would plough through had...

    Liftin a Freelander Sport

I have, as per one of my previous posts, have a set of steelies on her with meaty tyres. Ya can have a sporty ride without looking like a slug , freelander 2 for example. If Land Rover had fitted that suspension to the Freelander 1 then problem solved but they designed the standard suspension on...

    Liftin a Freelander Sport

Nope, the shocks are shorter unfortunately, well according to suppliers who I spoke to who stock both models and I managed to go and compare them. If anyone knows any different then that would be an easy mod but I have been told different. MMM, I have never liked the look of any lowered Land...

Another ****ing thread about series ****ing brakes :D

Just going to post same, it sounds like too much travel on front shoes hence when one is blocked off the pedal is better. Tighten both right up. Paul

    Liftin a Freelander Sport

Yeh I know that again but specifically a sport in this thread as the standard lift must have been done to death by now hehe.. After been nearly arrested going around standard Freelanders in car parks (mainly Tesco lol) with my tape measure I have come to the following conclusion. I am...

    Freelander Lift Kit

Thanks TD4_4x4, Thought I had thanked u before but looks like I didn't mate. Still sussing, bit worried about having to mod the wing to fit the 2" kit whilst Freelander still under warranty, thought the 2" kit could be fitted with no mods. Not got any sense from any of the dealers on whether I...

    Fuel additive???

When I got my TD4 with 40000 mies on her she was very hesitant at setting off especially at junctions where a quick getaway was required. Put a bottle of millers in over 2 tanks and the hesitation has gone and the engine is loads smoother. The bottle recommends using it all the time but I am...

    TD4 is this true?

Hi, Yep, what can confuse is that the maintenance schedule states that the auxiliary drive belt needs changing at 8 years or 96000 miles. This is the "fan" belt, well would have been in the old days. Sometimes this gets mis-interpreted as the cam belt in some publications / articles. With a cam...

Don't laugh at me too much ...

Hi, no probs, No not for sale, you asked me what wheels did I go for, that's what I got. Keep an eye on ebay they are always cropping up. You can see they dont look as good as the alloys but you get used to them and there loads more fun. Note, I have got rid of the awful Sport badges on the...

Any age steel wheels will be ok I think it's only the old alloys that will cause problems. I've fitted pre 2001 steelies to my 2004 TD4 Sport no probs. Paul
