    Michelin Synchrone 225 55 17

I recon I got lucky as in may 2010 I bought 4 brand new synchrones from blackcircles, £650 for 4, that included delivery, fitting, valves and vat. Tyre date was 1210 on all 4 so they were made only 2 months before I got them. Great tyres, done 17.5k since and the fronts are still over 6mm of...

    Puddle in boot!

You'll need to remove the rear seats and 4 interior panals to lift the rear carpet to get it fully dried, seats are 6 screws and the panals are about 6 torx each for the ones with speakers, the rears are held in with the 4 clips. Mine suffers badly from misting up but the carpet is bone dry...

    Crankcase filter removal issues

The torx driver I have is broke, the ratchet mechanism is gubbed. Will try and get a slightly larger one and hammer it in to get it out. Will see if work has anything I can use. Shall report back with findings

    Crankcase filter removal issues

Tried the hammer trick with the 5.5mm but it's just too big to fit in. Will try and find a torx to hammer into it, then replace it. Always one dam thing to go wrong with working on that car.

    Crankcase filter removal issues

Ive no sockets that fit the screw, and ive tried my whole garage of tools. I bought the 5.5mm allen key from halfrauds with a pack for £5 so if i need to sacrifice it, then so be it. File it down in small amounts till it fits? and turn then go to landrover and get replacements? The...

Went to give the car a full service today, oil changed, and driveway suitably rust proofed, air filter is done. Fuel filter is getting done tomorrow. But the crankcase filter has 4 screws that hold it in place, 3 have came undone with a bit of pressure, the 4th hasnt and has rounded, now i...

Is it time to change my pollen filter ?

Was 6mm hex screws, had to find a smaller head of 6mm screw to fit into the plastic recess to get to the screws. All changed now, was manky, not OP manky but still some leaves and seeds etc. Nice new genuine LR in place. Thanks for the help.

Freelander 1 TD4 Poll - How long do your fuel pumps last

Original LR arch pump failed at 4 1/2 years and 37k on my 04. Just as i bought it! Got 0.8 miles from the dealer before the dash lit up and the engine wouldnt rev and could do 25mph max. Sorted by dealer though. Could mis fuelling kill the pump early? My injector flow rates are a bit...

    Britpart ?

I had a britpart Master cylinder fitted to my 04 td4. It lasted 6 months and 4000 miles before completely giving up. Got a genuine LR replacement fitted and its lasted 17k and counting..

Tired on Condensation on the front windscreen

My 04 hardback is terrible for condensation, the back windows will always steam up, but only when moving.. My air con doesnt seem to work, i had it regassed about 18 months ago and used it regularly but it still seems to have lost its gas. The boot carpet though is dry, i spilt water in the...

FreeLander 1 TD4 Sport - Heated seats as standard?

No they are not. Just like parking sensors, heated front windscreen or leather interior. Ive seen ones with cloth seats and no sensors or heated windscreen. There is a sports premium model. That may come with the stuff, An SE spec model comes with all of the above apart from the 18s and...

    Freelander 1 exterior plastics colour...

I use Autoglym bumper restorer on my 04 hardtop roof, it was faded grey but is supposed to be black, rub it on with a cloth and it lasts a couple of months. I take the roof off and pressure wash it twice a year as i find it helps remove any marks etc. I take the washer to the rest of the...

    Fuel consumption Poll

Number 2 by any chance? My TD4 has an iffy #2 injector, its been present since i bought the car with 37k, it flows different to the others hense the better fuel and millers to give it a hand as they are expensive to replace. Would misfueling be to blame as i had the high pressure fuel pump...

    Another brave little Freelander

Thanks for the reply, :) Yes deep ruts would be an issue but you can try it from a different approach or just accept that some things are beyond its capabilities.

    Fuel consumption Poll

I get 40-44 mpg from my td4, 67k and remapped. I run it on BP ultimate diesel and stick millers in once a tank. Quite pleased with that, the higher miles is when i do mostly motorway driving, lower is a mixture of local and motorways.

What tyres was it running, noticed some of the disco's etc were running aggresive mud/at tyres. Looked like road biased rubber on the freeby but would like to know for certain.

    Great Disco, rotten chassis

Having had quite serious work done by this garage to my car, i would say to go elsewhere. Just dont. I will say no more as it could be classed as name and shame etc.

Just shows how important it is to pick your lines carefully and limit wheel spin. The onboard camera shows nothing special but barely a change in engine note, did the driver do it in 1st gear at tickover?
