if you change over the inlet and exhaust manifolds and swap engine mounts it should be fairly straight forward, main difference is the position ing of the turbo on the disco being at the bottom while defender is up above.

what state are your rear axle bushes in? could be slop in the radius arm bushes maybe, get under neath and havea good poke around with a big flat head screw driver or a small crow bar and look for excessive movement in all the bushes.

yeah but i dont think it was actually entered by landrover. i might be wrong but ithink it was a saudi guy who got some support from the company, so technically still a privateer. seem to recall it was a bright yellow 3 door.

could be the same as the well known disco death shake, this is caused by play in the swivel bearings. worth checking the preload on the swivels before buying any parts you may not need. if it checks out fine than great you can start ticking things off like steering damper, drop arm ball joint...

land rover dont actually enter a team do they??? any landys in the dakar tend to be privateers, in which case 28th aint bad against the big manufactures. mitsubishi have always spent mega money on the dakar as have citreon, toyota etc guess land rover never had anything to prove :)

was the swivel pins on my 200 series v8, braking gently then accelarating would stop it or keeping below 55mph. worth checking the pre load on the swivels before replacing anything else needlessly.

undo the 4 10mm bolts on back of fan then move the fan back towards the engine and you can get an adjustable or a spanner down the back of viscous unit no prob.

not fitted them to a disco before but your gonna need bolts not self tappers, bear in mind the tree sliders are supposed to be able to take a hefty wack or the wieght of the landy in the case of jackable jobbies, not worth bodging them on just fit them right first time. have fun :)

prefer to get rid of the whole engine tbh, but no have no plans for it as yet. would make bloody good engine for some one with a little work, just had valves done, timing belt, lift pump, valve seals, thermostat, full service. its just the turbo thats gone pop and wants the head off to check...
