Freelander 1 What mileage is your Freelander 1 on?

If my first one hadn't been smashed i would be about to hit the 100k miles this year. Current is at 72k. I recon i will be running this one past 100k now as the cost to change to what i wish (discovery 3 hse Auto) is too great and will 4 years of student life about to happen, i'll still with...

First week of driving after MOT

For a V reg that is very clean, bodywork and bumpers are in very good condition. The brackets are a known issue so that would be my first check before throwing time into pulling the gearbox out etc. Try a landy breakers as that side step is quite common so they should have one if you send a...

local garage has fooked my propshaft

A lot of things can change in 7 months though. Get an independant report done on the car and the work carried out, cover yourself to the full as the garage looks to be playing it down now. You had a working car when you entered, they took the work on in good faith to fix it properly. They...

    Advice on TD4

For 1 grand, depending on miles and condition etc it is worth over £5k easily. Does it have a full service history or just a guy topping up the oil when he could be arsed to check. New hoses are £120 max for silicone ones, blank the EGR, £40, fit the BMW vortex upgrade to do away with the...

    photo of my nightmare freelander

He had remould AT tyres on, and im not sure the freeby had TC as it's an early one and some never came with it. Yes, it's not a good video but the guy is young and inexperienced, most of us were the same. Saying that, my first off road experience in my own freebywas at the LRM show and i got a...

Here's a picture of the original towbar, not the best though. Is it good enough for anyone to identify what kind it is?

    Tow bar, what ones best?

Looking to get a tow bar for my 04 td4 SE. It came with a genuine one when i bought it but as i was 21 i didn't have the towing part on my licence so i took it off and sold it. Now i could do with getting a tow bar as im now going to be doing the tests to get the trailer part for my...

    Question for dog owners

Been taking him out every day now for short drives, beginning to settle down in the car. Have made a point of every trip so far being to see someone so he think's that car trips will be fun.

Well mine copes very well thanks, Last time i took it round a muddy course i got round better than a few defender's and RRC's thanks to the better weight and traction control. Some of them were equiped with AT tyres as well. Did they say how to improve the brakes? Does it need new pads discs etc?

    Buying Advice

Buy the td4, best engine. Auto/manual is down to personal choice, try and drive both and see which one you like better. Auto gives 3-4mpg less than manual but is better for off road/towing. Spec is as follows, S is basic, steel wheels etc. GS comes with air con and 15 inch alloys, cd player...

    Question for dog owners

Thanks guys for the answers, I have the standard land rover dog guard and the "born free" load mat, shall get a carpet cut for the boot and let him sit on that to stop him sliding about in the boot. Shall get the window guard as well, as my window doesn't drop a couple of inches, it's either...

    Question for dog owners

Couple of weekends ago I got a yellow Labrador puppy, he came with a crate for sleeping in and travelling. However the crate is 3 inches too wide at the top to fit in my 3 doors boot with the rear seats in the upright and locked position. The car did come with a dog guard and I have a LR...

    Service costs

Clutch master cylinder that lasted 4000 miles before dying again, part from britpart. Also seen plenty of examples of parts from them that were substandard or didnt fit. That and buying a set of pads from their stand at a LRM show, 3 of them all confirmed the pads would fit my 04 model...

    Service costs

Try ebay! I got a full 72k service kit from Manford LandRover dealer for £96 inc delivery for my TD4. That had, air, oil, fuel, pollon, crankcase and a new battery for the key. I just had to buy oil and did most by myself, i left the fuel to the garage when it got mot'd though. Just avoid...

    New clutch for my TD4

The clutch job is 7 hours labour as you need to drop the subframe, gearbox, IRD etc. I would try and find a decent landy indy nearby and ask them for a price as well. Oh and dont fit cheap parts, it's not worth it!

Freelander TD4 blown turbo, engine seized up - Help!

I hope theres oil in the engine if your trying to start it, and considering it's ran on it's own oil till it went bang, then there will be a low/none amount in it.

    freelander performance

The td4 does respond well to tuning, mine has been remapped and has a K&N filter added. Just mind to run good quality oil and filters in it. I picked up a 72k service kit, from a LR main dealer for £96 inc delivery. Oil, air, fuel, crank, pollon and a new battery for the remote. Mine also had...

    Light guards/sidesteps

Rear light guards are easy. Unscrew the screws that hold them in, place cover over and rescrew back in with longer screws that should be supplied with light covers. Fronts come with guide papers to get the holes drilled properly. I fitted mine and they were no real hassle. For the fronts...
