    WARNING: FREELANDER SPARES VCU's

Well i'm finding it very interesting reading through this. I recon im getting an idea of how it works now but shall re-read again for better understanding. I did also ask in the greenlane bit if there were decent freeby suitable lanes near hull, got no answers but as im not very good with my...

    WARNING: FREELANDER SPARES VCU's

So under normal road only driving the freeby is basically front wheel drive with no power going to the back wheels. If the fronts slip then the VCU will shear a bit sending power towards the back until it no longer shears. Right? Is there a upper limit then of how much shear/power will go to...

    WARNING: FREELANDER SPARES VCU's

I may be pulling this figure out of the air but I thought freebys ran a 90/10 split for on road driving with this changing as front wheels lost grip and power got fed backwards. Is there really no known proper figure for the distribution of power bias for the car?

    Towing with freelander tips

I've only drove it 4 times but was only going forward really with it. So reversing is something quite new to me. Shall take it slow and if I start to make a mess of it then I have plenty of space to move forward and try again. Will check the plate on the trailer to see how heavy it is then...

    Towing with freelander tips

Thanks. Can now feel happy about towing as long as I don't fill the trailer over 1 ton of weight.

    Towing with freelander tips

Is there a difference for towing braked or unbraked trailers? Ie, can I tow one but not the other? Gov website is as clear as muddy water filled with muddy mud.

    Towing with freelander tips

Im 25 next month, i was aware of the 750kg limit, but not it being a single axel. The trailer at work was only going forward, will be driving round the work yard with it to get used to reversing it, although i only need to do 2 reverses with it, one to turn it on my street and the 2nd to get...

    TD4 Stuck in light mud/grass

I would say bell engineering get a good name for freelander work, they do a drive in-drive out service on VCU's, so would go to their website and have a look. You're freeby should with a proper working VCU tow the trailer no problem up the slope. Once it's fixed properly, try again with the...

    Towing with freelander tips

Inside and run it down through the car? This part is giving me a few chin scratching moments. Oh and as for changing car, not financially possible. College starts in september so the freeby shall be staying for a few more years. Once done with college and uni then a disco4 is on the cards...

    Freelander 1 light bar

I'm now getting a roof rack instead. Either make one up or buy landrovers expedition one for freebys. Might get LR's one as its nice only only £385 but needs fixing kit but I recon you could get that thrown in for free.

    Freelander 1 light bar

there were only a handful of the proper G4 bars for the 55 plate freebys made. I found one but the seller wouldnt sell it as he had bought it for the lights to complete his G4 disco2, the bar had a broken/mission bracket as well. Was gutted as i really wanted it.

    Any lanes near hull?

Heading down to Hull next month to visit mates before flying out on holiday, would quite like to take the gaylander on some lanes to try it again off road as there are none up here in scotland. :( Some gentle ones as i will be covering 260 miles back home so dont want to break it or have...

    That wasn't ment to happen...

The story is the rangie was given to his 17 year old son as a "here, take this and be responable with it" type of gift. Lad trying to impress some lass for knobbing, got it stuck on the beach, tried various methods of getting it unstuck but failed. Tide came in and rangie spend a night...

help please on diesel fuel addetive

Before adding additives and such, what fuel are you using? Shell/BP or supermarket stuff? I know my td4 runs like crap, idles and smokes like a tratter if run on morrisons etc. Shell and BP make the engine smoother and less tratter like.
