What have you done to your Freelander today

Nothing, i sold mine a few weeks ago. Miss the fuel economy of it though. 37 beats 25 haha. That said, the replacement disco3 hse is a very nice car. And is currently more reliable than the freeby.

Mine is 8 years old now, no rust on doors or sills etc. Some surface stuff on the underside in parts but nothing that will trouble the MOT for many years. Must be your's i guess. How old is it?

Is 90000 miles much in Freelander terms?

My freeby is 8 years old with 73k on it, original battery and exhaust etc. The bearings can be changed for £120. £40 for decent GKN bearings from Foundry 4x4, and £80 for labour from a garage. Otherwise, i would check the VCU, it could be due a change and you dont want to ignore that as it...

TD4 Gone but will never be forgotten

About 133,000 miles. 1.6k is 1 mile. I also think he will do oil changes more than every 4 years. Mine has had its problems and issues but I've stuck with it. I have a good car, just need to get its engine issue sorted.

Amber engine light but no codes..

Hi all, Have been having the amber engine light flashing on/off on my 04 TD4, for a few months, It will flash under heavy acceleration or when going up certain hills under load and when rev's are about 2000rpm. I've had it to a garage for diagnostic check which found "4 unspecified...

What do you tow with your Landy?

No issues from the gaylander with it on the back.

    Wtf

tow rope is the answer if you dont mind a laugh, removes her car so your mil can get out. I did once tow a mates punto out his car park space and leave it in the middle of a car park once at an old work. He couldn't move it till his break came up. So it was left for a good 30 mins.

Pre Road trip checks, what preparations should I do?

Having just done a 700 mile trip in mine a few days ago. Check all the fluids, oil, coolant and make sure the washers are topped up as you can go through loads of it at times. Check all tyre pressures inc spare. Take some spare bulbs just incase and have an RAC/AA card. Just incase...

    TD4 - Crankshaft Failure

How did you get a replacement engine for free on a 6 year old car? Also, LR engines tend to be reconditioned units that get sent back to factory to be striped and repaired before getting sent back out to a dealer to be fitted. Now your cars so old, it's tough **** really, scrap or get an engine...

    Insurance

My estate is a no through road as well, in a small village. Freelander is parked on the driveway and i have 6 years NCB. Ironically, i can insure a Discovery3, V8 HSE, for £387 and a supercharged range rover vogue se for £400. The disco is very tempting..

    New Tyres

The reviews i read were all 4x4 owners, one guy got 85k out of his tyres.. I've seen a few sports with them fitted. They had no issues in the deep snow from a couple of years ago. This company will happily sell you substandard tyres, but steer you away from tyres that are suitable...

    New Tyres

You REALLY REALLY should spend a few minutes on google searching for how good/bad the tyres are. Those tyres get a mixed review as well with one comment about sudden understeer going round roundabouts. The Pirelli Scorpion ATR gets a much better review for grip, noise and wear rates, they will...
