    Anyone good at wipers?

Any play in the linkage from the cable to the gear wheel. I know mine has a bit there which reduces the coverage but when I am using it and its ****ing down it extends the coverage

First time Defender owner, long time admirer

Welcome, good looking fender! They all need a bit of work but yours looks pretty good. Just take your time with it working through the faults. I wouldn't get hung up on minor leaks as most of them leak something somewhere.

    UK based road trips

West coast of Scotland is awesome. I used to live there. Calmac used to do a week long explorer ticket so you could start at ardrossan, cross to Arran, then kennacraig, and keep jumping ferry to ferry. Not sure what it costs anymore but it is beautiful.

    Clutch problem

Follow the flexi hose down to the slave that bolts on to the bell housing. There is a bleed nipple on that. Remember the reservoir is small so it can be easy to empty it quickly when bleeding. Undo nipple pump clutch pedal. Gravity will almost do it for you if you just open the bleed nipple.

    Clutch problem

If you haven't already then keep the wading plug out of your bell housing. Mine leaks slightly (top up once a month) and if you leave the plug out then no risk of clutch contamination. Just stick it back in for the day if you are off road

stuck on changing rear wheel bearing

I have a set of these. Bahco DEB1213 Double Ended Ring Spanner 12-13mm http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B000Y8X7BM It's a normal ring spanner but 20 cm long so you can get some leverage on it

    '95 110 rear wiper Motor?

Well I just fixed by britpart one. Turned out the earth to the back door had snapped inside the rubber tube that covers it between the back door and the body. I guess 17 years of being flexed with the back door was a bit too much for it.

stuck on changing rear wheel bearing

When I did mine I used a universal joint next to the socket to allow me around the spring but if you lift it on the chassis you should be able to get between the coils

    Battery with winch?

If you use pulleys in conjunction with the winch it lowers the load on the winch so less strain on the winch and battery http://science.howstuffworks.com/transport/engines-equipment/pulley.htm

stuck on changing rear wheel bearing

It's not a normal 13 mm socket . You need to get a bi-hex one

    Long journey ahead

Just drive, mine usually only does trips of 160 miles or more at a time. Max I have done in 1 sitting was from chesterfield to les coches in the alps which was just over a thousand miles each way. Have a crawl around underneath and make sure you don't have any excessive oil leaks, props look...

    Living with a Cheapo defender,

I thought it was a bargain for a sec and then I realised when he put the age as 2001, based on the plate 1991 I think.

    Rear discs and pads

2 other important things to point out 1 don't think about your landy when having sex 2 don't let your partner read this post as when they find out you were thinking about your landy whilst having sex then the next we will probably hear from you is your obituary...

    Rear discs and pads

The bearings should slide on and off easily and yup the hub nut holds it all together. I personally don't use a torque wrench on this part I do it by feel so you want the nut as tight as is required to remove the play from the bearing. so turn it it very small amounts whilst spinning the wheel...

    rear end cycle Carrier

Sounds good, don't know what the weight limit is on the swing away, pending on the bikes could be quite a bit heavier that a spare wheel? I used to use one that bolted on behind the tow ball was really good but you did lose the use of the back door which is a pain
