    Historic tax

That is not the case. There was a new law…. The AA make it simpler reading and say the following: Unless you've registered your vehicle as off the road (Statutory Off Road Notification/SORN) or it's in the process of being transferred to a new keeper by DVLA, it must be insured. The offence...

    Historic tax

Technically - you will need to do a SORN. It must be insured if on the the road, and by default you are saying it is on the road if taxed.

    40 year Mot exemption

It may well have changed recently - so I may not be correct. But last year, and 2 years ago, it wasn’t possible to do a tax class change on line. It is so simple at a post office - so just do it there. My friendly village post office man always knows what to do, and just sorts it. Don’t even...

    40 year Mot exemption

My belief is you have to tax the vehicle to get a tax class switch to historic.

    40 year Mot exemption

If your V5 has on the front of it near the bottom, vehicle declared date of manufacture #### then this can make things completely different.

    40 year Mot exemption

So, from the reg date (what ever day of the month it was registered) in August 2022, it did not require an mot - if it hasn’t been extensively modified. It still needs to be roadworthy, and you may have to fill in a declaration saying it is roadworthy and hasn’t been modified when you tax it. It...

    40 year Mot exemption

Just to add - the mot rules are slightly different. Hence the question - what is the registration date on the V5?

    40 year Mot exemption

The taxation class would read historic, if it was historic. It will always need a road fund license (road tax) to be driven on the road legally. It may cost nothing, but it is still needed.

    40 year Mot exemption

If you know your vehicle registration date then post it. Are you trying to renew the tax? Has the mot expired? with that info I can then probably answer this!

Battery cable clamp to kill switch

I have never seen or fitted a battery isolator onto a positive battery cable. They should only go onto the negative cable. If you fit on a positive there is an increased risk of shorts with bare connectors.

    P38A Penetrating fluid -balls

Try cleaning the threads that are showing. I use a dremel thing with a little wire brush on it. The better you can clean the threads the easier it will come apart. In general I find that penetrating oil just makes it easier to start with, but rust on the threads will still make it bind up.

    caster correction plates

Just buy the ones with the 16mm holes. They will fit both. If you worried about centralising on the bolt or pin or whatever it is, use a bit of rubber pipe. Once you tighten the u bolt it won’t move.

    Tube valve sizes!!!

If it is old style then most likely TR15. The TR13 is smaller diameter, like a standard tubeless rim size. The others are mainly bent or bolt on.

    Tyre pressures

If the pressure is too low for how you are using your vehicle, the tyres get too hot. So check them. Put your hand on them as soon as you stop, occasionally. There are many reasons to adjust the pressures. I run with standard suspension and generally down rural, bumpy uneven roads, so run around...

Any advice appreciated EX MOD tax/mot exemption

It depends! What is written on the front of the V5 - assuming it is a fairly modern V5. It should say something about the vehicle not being new when registered and a declared date of manufacture. It would then have an age related plate, so probably T at the end? If no comment and probably on a H...

    235x85 tyres

Just a little bit of info about the torque on the HD rims: If you put a straight edge across the back of any steel wheel face where it bolts to the hub. You will find it is concave, when looking at it from the back. A steel wheel is designed like this. When you tighten the wheel nuts to the...
