    Such a drag

I did suspect a bit of flannel from the 'controller' or 'cantroller' to be fair. Handbrake drum is always cool so that's fine. Think I'll jack up each end in turn once I've had a decent run ad try that. Who knows, a new (recon) caliper could be sticky but it's all four discs that heat up. Not...

    Such a drag

Afternoon all, been a while since I've been on. Slight problem with brakes. Year 2000 P38, I put new discs, pads and calipers all round about a year ago and been through two MOTs since. The problem is I feel a slight bit of brake drag, not really when driving but when I pull up at traffic lights...

    thinking on minor underpidgeon

The Hurricane wheel was actually a very popular wheel for the P38. The Comet is really much the same in that it's 5 spoke but without the gap inbetween each of the spokes so not really much of a change. If you want a plainer wheel why don't you try the three spoke one, can't remember what they...

Yeah looks like a 71 to me

Re-bodied and a new engine. Someone 'bought' a V5 then.

    MOT failed.......

How does this work re the condition "for vehicles left at the testing station for repairs, no further test fee is payable" or words to that effect?
  6. B

    MOT failed.......

Just make sure they haven't failed it on some of the new things that don't actually apply. An example is the headlamp washers - only testable for HID lights - not standard ones as on the P38 which sometimes don't work anyway.

    Sloshing about

If they are wet, you'll know what to do too.

    Sloshing about

Dried out and rebuilt, water all gone. Hopefully blowing through the tubes and resealing the cover has done the trick. I'm sure the wonderful weater up here will test it in due course.

    Sloshing about

After discovering a dribble of clean water on the front left floor mat (2000 P38 V8) I quickly suspeccted the pollen filter housing. Out with them both and checked. Driver's side dry so no prob - gave it a blast with the airline anyway. The passenger's side one was wet and there was water in the...

    L.E.D Daylight-Running Lights On P38

Day running lamps are compulsory on new vehicles from 2011 on. I think on some cars they can often cause a bit of excess dazzle which itself is an offence but that's the law makers these days and yet another double standard.

    Cruise control not working

Mine was the same. The switch still doesn't light up (tiny bulb inside it) but it was one of the hoses at the T piece had a hole in it. A bit of fuel pipe sorted it. Don't use washer tubing, it'll collapse and restrict all vacuum.

2 idiotic moves work out all right

Was it one of the map lights as the main one should go off after about ten minutes?

    Riding High

That'll be why I've never found it! :o Testbook did show up connector to air tank once though

    Riding High

I'm going to check all the height sensors connections - and the air tank multiplug too.
  15. B

    Riding High

Agreed but it still climbs to wade even with the button locked.

    Riding High

Mine has done that since I got it three years ago. I have had it on RSW, Testbook and Autologik (I think). None of them show faults however I once got a 'bad connection' on a height sensor. This was sorted and didn't show up again. It can go days without any problems, staying at normal ride...

    Advice appreciated..fitting rear air bag

Best tackled with a fresh mind the next day. Probably the cold not allowing the bag to flex as much especially as it's new but how is the car jacked up? If you have a jack under the body and one under the axle gently raise the axle one. Or how about putting the top end in first and pulling down?

    The 3 Amigo's...

It's all linked, check brake lights first and if they are working, most likely as described. HDC won't engage if it knows it won't work if it's not getting signals from all four wheels.

    You gotta be kidding.

    It has happened........

    You gotta be kidding.

The uninitiated to using a slim-jim will most likely be slotted through the forehead if they ever try it on a car with door airbags. Boom, rocket, whoosh.............splat!
