    Clunking in reverse

Cheers guys, Out of interest, how big a job and expense would the reverse idler gear be to fix? Would use this info as part of any offer I make if I decided to purchase the vehicle.

    Clunking in reverse

hi all, I have just test driven a 1984 series3 petrol. Everything seemed fine with the exception of a clunking noise which only happened when reversing the vehicle out of the garage. It was fine going forward. It's just passed it's MOT but has a drive shaft universal joint advisory. Is it...

    Question about a G reg 90

I'm after a 200 or 300tdi. Do you have any pics?

Sounds like the kind of thing I'm Looking for. Do you have any pics?

    Chequerplate

Hi flat, you make a good point about removal. I don't like it either and it's currently really restricting my choice of vehicles to buy. I'm guessing the wing panels are riveted on. Assuming the sill chequerplates are not hiding anything, are these bonded on or riveted also?

    Chequerplate

Cheers for all of the replys guys, Personally, I like the clean lines of the 90 without any chequerplate but they seem to be almost impossible to find

    Chequerplate

Thanks for all the responses guys. Just wanted to check if there was such a thing as standard issue chequerplate from landrover. It seems like the answer to that is yes. Thanks again

    Chequerplate

Correction, the chequerplate is on the sill only. Cheers

    Chequerplate

Hi all, As mentioned in my 'introduce yourself' section, im after my first landy. I'm looking for a 200/300tdi that is as original as possible. I have seen something I like the look of and it has chequerplate on the sills and door bottoms only. My question is, could it be original? Did...

    Hi from a Newbie!

On another note, how to I post a thread in the wanted section? No privileges currently. Do I get these after a certain time, number of posts etc?

    Hi from a Newbie!

Yes that's great advice, My brother is a landy nut so he will be joining me on any viewings

    Hi from a Newbie!

Thanks both for the info, In hindsight, it was probably a pointless question on my part as I would be happy with either as long as the vehicle was right. Looking everywhere online for landy whilst keeping tabs on these forums at the same time. Who said men cannot multitask :)

    Hi from a Newbie!

Cheers turboman, It's going to be mainly local stuff with probably a once a month 1hr 40min A/B road trip. Is there much difference between the 200/300tdi that makes one worth going for more than the other?
  17. D

    Hi from a Newbie!

Ha ha yes I guessed that was what you meant. I'm specifically after a 200/300tdi for that very reason with regards to maintenance. I'm hoping to be able to do a lot if it myself. Regularly change fluids etc...

    Hi from a Newbie!

Cheers Mulcaster, I may have my work cut out as A. I'm a fussy sod and B. I assume good ones are few and far between as the ones that are out there that are unmolested, are not available as people wouldn't want to give them up! The search commences......

    Hi from a Newbie!

Hi all, Been following the forums on here for quite a while and can tell that it is a fantastic site! As the title of my post suggests, I am a newbie and am not currently a landy owner. I am hopeful that will change soon however as I am looking to buy a good solid, genuine 90/defender with...
