    WARNING: FREELANDER SPARES VCU's

Hi MHM I would imagine that it would operate no matter how cold, as it is a sealed unit, although in extreme cold it may take slightly longer to heat up and "shear" the liquid inside.

    WARNING: FREELANDER SPARES VCU's

As I understand it, a vcu in good nick does nothing until any wheels slip, then the viscous liquid heats up, stiffens, and causes the props to lock, giving all round drive. As long as the liquid doesn't heat up, i.e. the plates inside don't spin inside the vcu, stirring it up, then "2 wheel...

    Clutch

Hi It may well be that the clutch needs replacing, and the other part that you have been told about is the dual mass flywheel, which is normally recommended to change because of the work involved to change the clutch anyway. You may also want to replace the master and slave cylinders too...

Newbie (but not asking for help...yet)

Hi Daniel with regard to the above, I have the same issue, as do many of our fellow FL owners on this site. The drivers door not unlocking, but in my case it locks, is to do with the drivers door solenoid. They are around the 80 quid mark new. The sunroof is a different matter. Again...

    Complete coolant drain?

Will Stick a hose into the top pipe of the rad and flush, the do the same with the engine. This should shift the remaining old stuff. Then bleed as per the manual, but do this from cold. It may take a few goes to get rid of all the air .

    2001 freelander TD4

I also removed my VCU as a precautionary measure, as it had covered 80 odd thousand and was showing the signs of failure. But hopefully before the winter I'll have it all back together, with a NEW VCU, no recon for me!! Ooh, and as for slippage Will, new Goodyears on all corners stops the...

    Wheel nuts

Depends on whether your wheels are steel or alloy. If the wheels are steel, you could possibly get away with alloy nuts. The other way round though, and, if after repeatedly removing the wheels, steel nuts could stretch the alloy holes in the wheel. As a rule of thumb, steel for steel, alloy...

    Boot locker

If it is that, MW, it's a hell of a lot for condensation. I still believe it's a combination of your issue, resetting the seals, and water ingress from the door itself. If this nice weather keeps up I'll be giving it a go at the weekend :)
