    bhp increase question

New money ps (?) figure is less than old money hp. 100 hp = 105 (approx) ps.............. why can't stattos just leave it as it was? Horse power all the way!! :D

    Reverse light switch

Hi GL you may find that the BMW one doesn't have the same connector block as the FL one. Mine went a couple of months ago, the new one cost 35 quid.

    Car won't start

Hi Anne It sounds like a fuelling issue, maybe the filter is blocked, or the pump is failing. The filter is relatively cheap, the pump less so :)

Is 90000 miles much in Freelander terms?

Hi OIW, You may have had the vcu replaced twice before you owned it, unless you have service proof ;)

Water leak into rear of Freelander

Fitted the new rear door surround seal at the weekend, not cheap at 130 sheets, but it seems to have cured the fault I had with water in the security box. As for condensation, as has been said on here, if there is condensation, common fault or not, it's still a fault. I've never owned a vehicle...

    more vcu confusion

Hi all In my modest opinion, if you are willing to spend anything from 300-700 quid for a cambelt change every 60k, then spending similar on a VCU is a no brainer. If a VCU fails and you don't notice, you soon will when the IRD and final drive fail, and it could cost you up to three times as...

Thinking of throwing in the towel

Looking at the website, minimum for the smallest EW pump, maximum for the largest. Sorry, wasn't clear enough!! Just trying to compare and contrast, that's all :o

Thinking of throwing in the towel

You say that, but the flow rate from an EWP is minimum 15 ltr/min, 115 ltr/min maximum, a Grundfos pump max around 38 ltr/min. Whether it is automotive or not, a pump is a pump, and its velocity is relative.

Thinking of throwing in the towel

Ok, so with all of these HGF issues, what would the problem be if you were to revert to running the engine without a stat in the summer, and put it back in the winter, like the good old days when a motor was getting too hot? ;)

Thinking of throwing in the towel

Being a heating engineer myself, I can safely say that a domestic central heating system has (obviously) a load more pipework in which to 'lose' the pump pressure, if not the velocity of the water. It sounds as if your pump velocity may be too much for the relatively short route that the...

    Argh, clutch replacement time

What was the total price you paid for all that? Cheapest complete kit I've seen on fleabay was £600. DMF Clutch Kit TD4 Was this it?

    Argh, clutch replacement time

Hi Gibbo Every piece of literature I've read states that the plate, cover and dual mass flywheel, and even the master and slave cylinders, should be changed!! No expert on this, but I'm sure others will confirm or deny this. Having a TD4 myself, I'm saving like crazy for that moment

Thinking of throwing in the towel

Thats it Will, don't give in yet.......... I'm sure DaVinci made lots of errors before finding the right solutions to his inventions, Dyson before creating the "perfect" vacuum cleaner (or most expensive mainstream one, you choose!!), and Edison to boot, so keep fighting the...

Billing - LRO Flags up a question

Hi Fuel filter is easy to change, if yours is in the engine bay.

    Intercooler hose - advice please

It's a durability / longevity thing, if you can purchase something which doesn't cost tons more, but will do it's job better for longer, then you buy it if you can. Or not. That's the great thing about choice. Oh, and to the folks who fit them, with the choice of colours they look the nuts too...

    Intercooler hose - advice please

The main advantage is longevity, so yes, if you don't intend to keep it for life then go for the standard hoses, to save money. I fitted them as a "belt and braces" option, for peace of mind :)

    Intercooler hose - advice please

Hi Rikky I will direct you here Silicone Hose Replacement It may not get you your hoses any quicker, just gives a neat bit of advice. Also, DPH are highly recommended, I have them fitted myself.

Mondo Mode, told insurers and waiting, waiting..

I had no issues from my insurer, I told them when I called them, they put me on hold for two minutes, said it was fine. All good ;)

    egr blanking plate strangeness

Its the pipe that comes up from the exhaust that requires blanking off, not the flow into the inlet manifold. No air = no start. :o

    Tyre advice part 2

Well norfie, you say that, but it was reading the various posts on this website that prompted me to buy 4 new tyres for mine as soon as I had it on the drive, for peace of mind as much as anything. Maybe I'm in the minority though.....
