    exterior plastics/bumpers

Carplan trim and bumper shine. Turns the grey to a lovely black, lasts for around 5 - 6 months, and a good deal less intrusive than a heat gun, in my opinion. But you pays your money.............. ;)

    Maximum Tyre Size & Recommendations

Hi Chris I think you've covered the three most popular makes of tyre for your use, but there are loads of posts on here about this subject........... do a search and you'll see :)

MJR, you are a gentleman and scholar...... many thanks :)

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

Hi MJR I'm probably going to do the same thing, there are some jobs which are just too much to handle within time / weather / capability constraints. I'll get all the parts I need and get the local garage to do mine. If you rustle up that part number that would be great :)

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

Thanks GB I'm changing my mind every few hours on the subject, I know I could do it, its making sure I've got everything I need, because once I start I won't have the opportunity to wait for parts as I have a two, maybe three day window to do it, in the dry, jacked up on axle stands. Or just...

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

Oh, there's a ton of work involved, Digby. Just been reading up on it all, and loads of parts have to be removed. But it'll be satisfying if, hopefully, it all goes back together nicely and it all works!

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

Digby' I've just read the manual, and it looks like the IRD has to come off :( I'm gonna give it a go myself, I've got use of a small workshop over the school half term, and I'm hoping to get it done over a couple of days. Just need to do a complete list of parts, and especially change...

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

6 hours........ damn that's a good time!! As I have the TD4 with the getrag 'box, I'm under the assumption that the IRD has to come out. I'm really tempted to have a go myself, I have a fair few tools to hand, and love to fiddle around. Plus it's an opportunity to save nearly 400 in labour costs :)

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

That was my train of thought too cremator, I've read a fair bit on these DMFs, and also on the solid flywheel replacement. I'm of the opinion that the DMF was fitted to mine for a reason, and will be replaced like for like.

New disc time but what ones

Ok Freelaner, cheers. I'll look at that website :)

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

Hi MJR, thanks for that, I was wondering which would be the better makes. I was looking at the complete LUK kit, with DMF as well. It seemed fairly reasonably priced. Also, is it definitely worthwhile changing the DMF, or is it a 'peace of mind' thing? I've only ever heard of clutch plates...

New disc time but what ones

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

MHM, there's one of them near me in Reading, but the guys stood outside puffing away looked no older than my son...... not saying this is necessarily a bad thing........ but it is !! :D

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

Skoda, your labour charge was quite reasonable too. MJR, good advice about the master cylinder, definitely something I could do. And your prices are about right as well, I shall look online, buy the parts as I can afford them, then get them fitted. The missus keeps saying, "Why don't you do...

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

Hi Cremator, the quote was 350 for fitting, the parts quote was higher than I expected but he's happy for me to buy the parts as long as they're decent. His parts quote was 580 without the DMF

    Conversion kit

Hi Hobo P, It would depend on where your secondary LP pump is located, as the filter on mine is next to it in the engine bay. If you've got access to RAVE, have a look at the Workshop Manual, in the Fuel Delivery-TD4 section. This shows you a diagram of the fuel supply layout :)

    Bite The Clutch Bullet..........

Oh well, time to mortgage the house, it's nearly time for the clutch assembly change!! Had a price, just got to do a bit of saving up first. It's starting to slip, good and proper, not all the time, but if I'm a bit heavy on the "go fast" pedal, it shows me it don't like it :o But I shall...

    Leaking boot?

It's a door seal fault........ I've replaced the damaged door shedder, replaced the rear door seal, the one that wraps around the opening, but to no avail, I still get a small puddle of water in there. I've narrowed it down to the hinge side of the rear door, but where exactly is a mystery. As...
