    Snow's back!

Its not a virus scanner, if anything online tells you that you have viruses besides your own anti virus software, I would be wary. Its normally a pop up.

    Help!! Re: Engine Oil Level

Grayo, my TD4 took about 6.5 litres of oil, so I'm suspecting it may be a tad over. You may need to drop some out, better if you have a syringe to suck it out, if not it'll be a bit messy :)

Black diesel versus bio diesel versus svo

Dinks I've just been doing a bit of research on this black diesel ( Used motor oil ) and it seems as if you need add a load of stuff to it. Look at this: Black Diesel Filtration I guess you're really asking to see if anyone else is doing / has tried this, along with other ways. It...

    Tyres

Hey Geordielad Tyre choice is quite subjective on here, and while there are some makes you should probably never shod your wheels with, dependent on what you intend to do with your FL is the real key. If you are ploughing through the countryside, mud up to your windows, then you need to be...

Freelander 1 Fish tank water ingress video

Amen to that, brother!! :) I was fortunate to have picked mine up relatively cheaply, because with the money I've spent so far, plus what I would have to spend to bring it back up to 4x4 spec ( VCU and, after having a new clutch assembly fitted, being told, "ooh, quite a bit of swarf / metal...

Freelander 1 Fish tank water ingress video

And by the same token,DD3, no disrespect to you, but it is a frikkin nuisance, which has more than one problem, and certainly more than one solution. As with other threads and posts on here, if it doesn't pertain to you, then saying you don't care doesn't really cut it. I for one am p*ssed off...

TD4 blue/white smoke on start up

I think a lot of the issues with diesels seem to be the regular servicing, along with any fuel / oil additives that may be required. If any of these are overlooked, then it's my opinion that the problems arise. Mechanically, my FL 1 is sound, now electrically, a slightly different...

    Reverse lights not working

Normally it's the actual switch itself, I had this issue and had to change mine.

    Slave cyclinder

The IRD has to come off, so anything connected to that will also have to be either removed or disconnected and supported, in order to remove the gearbox, in order to change the slave cylinder. It's a convoluted old pain in the arse, and if anything else is close to failing i.e. clutch or DMF...

    L series vs Td4 driveability

I remember like it was yesterday SV............ although only being 44 it pretty much was! If it wasn't an MG BGT, or a Mk 3 Cortina 2.0 E, or a Viva Firenza my mate bought at 14, and we tinkered about with most evenings, moving it forward 30 feet, then reversing............. funny how it all...

    L series vs Td4 driveability

Knocked the nail on the head there WLJ. Nowadays people think cars should run for tens of thousands of miles without so much as a glance under the bonnet. I remember when I was younger, there was always a bonnet up at the weekend, someones dad tinkering around with whatever engine it was, and us...

    L series vs Td4 driveability

Quality SV! Since bringing my TD4 up to scratch, replacing all the basics, and servicing, it's one lovely drive. Smooth on accelerating, but for a 2 ton + car it pulls very well, starts every time...... all in all a little gem. :)

    Reversing light not working TD4

The connection tends to be fine, it's the contactor inside the switch that fails (another one of the FL's inherent faults ;)) It's not too bad to get to, and with a long socket it comes out fairly easily......... but as you said, it's too cold at the mo!! A million candle power torch pointed...

    Reversing light not working TD4

Hi Angeloc I had the same issue on my '01 TD4, and it was narrowed to the reverse light switch in the gearbox. Just so happens it's the more expensive switch as well, at around 30 - 40 squid. If you do need to replace it, I found it easier to remove the nearside front wheel to get at it, as...

    Leaky rear door seal..

Not to disappoint you Illy, I bought a replacement, at a similar price, and it made no difference....... gutted. As Cooter has said, it's coming through higher up in my opinion too, because the rear headlining on mine is soaking. I'm guessing it's the plastic trim above the rear door, but lord...

    Is it just me or.....

A "thanks" button would be cool though, as with other sites. Though I have paid gratitude to all those who have aided me with top advice through this site, not all are of the same ilk. Horses for courses :p

    2002 LP Fuel Pump Location

Hi Freeo There are two LP pumps, one in the tank and one in the engine bay, next to the filter, on my '01 FL anyway. I wouldn't know which one is faulty in your case. If you can download the 'RAVE' pdf file from somewhere, it's very descriptive, and may point you in the right direction :)

What have you done to your Freelander today

Seeing as it is my B'day, and a glorious if a tad fresh day, thought I'd go and investigate a fuel leak on my FL TD4...... turns out it was the push clip that had somehow disengaged from the filter block, easy fix. Also changed the intercooler hose, the last one on the list to do, gave the...

    Leaky Boot - Potential Contributor?

Well, I replaced the door seal some time ago, at some considerable cost, but I still have water in the cubby......... one place I also found water, was along the rear headlining, it was / is absolutely soaked. I shall remove the lining and have a gander at some stage. I've read on the Freelander...
