p38 fuel cap release (2.5 bmw six diesel)

OK, I can get a switch with no real problems and looking at it I reckon even I could change it. The bigger issue now is the cap itself. The little catch that held it closed has gone. Any ideas where I could get one of those or is it a trip to a main dealer do you reckon?

    range rover run

Hi Roddy, I got a reply from Land Rover Monthly to say to meet up at The Gaydon Heritage Centre for 10.00, ready for a 10.30 run down to Stoneleigh. They didn't ask any particular questions about my RR and didn't specify which vehicles it was for. I would think that given it's a 40th...

p38 fuel cap release (2.5 bmw six diesel)

Roddy - As far as I know anything as long as it's an RR can be on the run. It's celebrating 40 years of RR. Mine's a 95 reg P38 and assuming it stays in one piece long enough to make the run I'm going. Email them at editorial@lrm.co.uk and see what they say. I got a reply pretty quickly. Let me...

    RF receiver

Mine occasionally throws a wobbler. Did it today in fact. I knocked the driver's door lock with my elbow and it threw a fit. Every time I unlocked it, it locked all the doors again. I could unlock it by pulling the button up but then it just locked itself again. When it does that I just put the...

p38 fuel cap release (2.5 bmw six diesel)

I'd be kind of interested in how to FIX the filler cap. I went the stage further Roddy and had to stop for fuel (of course as mine's the 4.6 petrol and not LPG) and the button said "no". As I had to get some petrol I tried to gently pry it open. The result of that is that I now carry a roll of...

    Can't get out

Mine locked me in just for spite. Was having a few "issues" due to my battery being sucked inside out by the remote receiver whilst I was on hols. When it did eventually decide to let me get in it was like a ruddy great 4.6L Venus Fly Trap. The moment I got in the doors locked, alarm went off...

    Bought a P38 HSE 4.6!

    What an absolute bargain.

    P38 Remote Receiver Problems

Sorted! As you said Derek it was very straight forward. The new RF receiver is now in and one added benefit is I can now open and lock the car from more than 2cm away. I didn't realise just how close I had to be before until the new receiver was in. Hopefully that will be the end of the dreaded...

    P38 Remote Receiver Problems

That's great. Many thanks Derek. I'll take a look in the morning. I'll keep you posted. Cheers.

    P38 Remote Receiver Problems

Found someone that sells them at least locally for £150 or so. Britpart wouldn't sell directly to me as it was a "wholesale part". Grrrrrr. If anyone could let me know where I could get a replacement procedure and if it's feasible for a non-car person to fit it or not I'd really appreciate it...

    P38 Remote Receiver Problems

Hello all, I won't bore you with all the details, but of course I've suffered all the above, needless to say. I made the big mistake of going on holiday for a WHOLE WEEK with my 95 reg RR parked right next to my house. How could I have been so careless?? After a lot of faff I charged the...

Brake peddle clicks and sometimes nothing there....

Not just how much but also are there any garages or anyone else that can fit the kit as and when you get one? I pride myself on being able to top up my washer bottle and I even topped up the oil and engine coolant today but stripping anything else down would lead to a far greater disaster than...

    clicking pedal

I've had my brake pads and discs replaced all round and I've still got the pedal click. To date my brakes work every time I use them and I've given them a hard time just to be sure but I'd really like to get the fix done. Sadly though I have about as much mechanical know-how as a stunned carrot...

    Disco 4 - LED lights

Hi all, Does anyone know if it's feasible to activate the snazzy LED lights on a Disco 4 XS? Mine has them but of course unless you fancy shelling out another 6 to 8 £K for the HSE, LR cunningly don't enable them. Is it likely to be a software thing or a nasty hardware issue where they don't...

    P38 Electric memory wing mirrors

My passenger mirror is/was possessed too. However I have a cunning solution. Seeing as there's only me driving my Rangey (my Wife says it's smelly and isn't very keen) I make full use of the memory settings. It's a 3 stage solution so stay with me here. 1) Disable the auto-dip. It's rubbish...

Brake peddle clicks and sometimes nothing there....

Ahhhh. Sorry. I did wonder. £50 for a couple of washers does seem a bit steap perhaps. I just had visions of you making your own disks which would make for an interesting experiment. One probably best carried out on very quiet roads :D

Brake peddle clicks and sometimes nothing there....

Famousfour are advertising EBC heavy duty disks and pads, front and rear for £240 + labour or £128 for regular bits. I wouldn't have thought there would be a huge labour charge and their rates seem very resonable to me anyway. As I'm still looking at getting a set of sliders for the bottom I'll...

Brake peddle clicks and sometimes nothing there....

I get a click with mine but there is always (touch wood) plenty of braking behind the click. Having looked at my disks the have trenches rather than grooves warn in them but the garage says they have a few miles left on them yet but that they will need doing fairly soon. Would very warn disks...

    Rangerover P38 wanted

I dare say the diesel is a cracking car and on fuel consumption alone, your head should be telling you diesel. However, I defy anyone with a heart and soul to sit in a 4.6 V8 and hear it gargle into life and not fall in love. I had a V8 XK8 and even that didn't sound as good as my P38. Having...

    head or heart

On the plus side though it's not like there is a shortage of stuff out there to go and look at and at least it's a fun thing to do. Hunting around for a new car is almost as much fun as owning it for me. I agree though, if you really want a Defender then prolly a Rangey or a Disco won't do it...
