    Help TD5 overheating problem

It's just one way to lose coolant without seeing an obvious leak. Can also leak out onto manifold and evaporate. How noticable running is affected I can't answer. I had the problem and didn't notice "rough" running; it did lise power and go into limp mode though. Heads (10p) aligned with the...

    Help TD5 overheating problem

Head gasket. Coolant leaks into cylinder and evaporates during combustion. When it gets hot, engine management puts it into limp mode

SFS? If so, what condition os the chassis in? Pics of the rear chassis would be good. Any problems with lost coolant? Open to offers?

    Disco 2 Alarm

There's a few things I want to find out by plugging in a tester. On my todo list. I'm thinking water ingress on BCU may be behind things. Will investigate when weather clears up here. Oh for a garage!

    Disco 2 Alarm

Well, 4 months later, I'm still none the wiser on alarm issues. However, there has been a lot to confuse the issue in that time. In no particular order: - Replaced key fob as worn out casing (plastic button broke away). I used a new plastic case but transfered the pcb and key. Mine has no...

Disco 2 And now it's the Bonnet Hinges

Bracket welded back on. Plenum cover, trim, etc., refitted. Rust treated and painted. Do the other side when the weather warms up. ☀️

Disco 2 And now it's the Bonnet Hinges

Phew! That's a relief; it fits. Just wait for it to stop raining now, take it back off and finish the job off properly. Then it's the other side. On the subject of drainage. I may fit my own drain pipes to that water can escape when the vehicle is facing uphill (as in the photo). LR never...

Disco 2 And now it's the Bonnet Hinges

And now for the bit where I fcuk it all up with my poor welding skills. A few tacks first. And as expected, the non radiused corners suffered, but hey, remember the old rusty look!

Disco 2 And now it's the Bonnet Hinges

Seems to line up right ? I'm more than a tad nervous about this. A bit too gappy for great welding but it will have to do.

Disco 2 And now it's the Bonnet Hinges

Made a plate to fill the hole. I retrieved the back nut plate and plug welded it in what I hope is the right place. This is the trickiest part of the whole exercise as far as I'm concerned, as getting those two bolt holes in exactly the right place to be able to reattach the bonnet correctly...

Disco 2 And now it's the Bonnet Hinges

After a bit of 3 dimensional figuring out, I cut out the bad stuff. All very awkward with only a bloomin great angle grinder. Must put something smaller on my shopping list.

Disco 2 And now it's the Bonnet Hinges

Well, clearly I no longer own a vehicle; I own a "Project"! The latest challenge is the bonnet hinges have come off - well, more accurately, the steel they were bolted to has rusted away. I knew I was going to have to get around to dealing with a hole that was visible in the baulkhead under the...

Disco 2 Losing the will to live

Tailgate hinges now replaced and the door opening, closing, and locking beautifully. £133 worse off. No further signs of the oil leak so still waiting for that to resurface. So, thus far:- Welded up rusted chassis Rear light cluster replaced Wing mirror replaced Headlining off, sunroofs out and...

Disco 2 Losing the will to live

What ever did I do in a previous life, so bad that I suffer the despair of Landrover ownership? Fix a fault and bam, another one appears. So, having grappled with the difficulties of replacing a duff FPR, which came hot on the heels of a water pump failure and replacement, I discovered a puddle...
