hey all thank you for all your suggestions and help, its all sorted now we removed the head again changed and seated all valves,the knocking sound was the rocker arm it had adjusted itself and the gap was over an inch where it should have been 0.20 reset all rocker arms another new head gasket...

is that possible,all this started with it overheating ..after it overheated and cut out it drove home 80 miles problem free and sounded fine right up until my front door then it suddenly started to rattle and its been the same since ....any more ideas would be very welcomed as now been without...

i had some1 look at it who informed me that it is possibly a crack in the cylinder head he did say it was a strange 1 as when u hold a pole to all areas of the engine..turbo.etc etc u cant hear any knocking at all not in the big ends little ends crank area nor in the head the loudest part seems...

just a quick update , it maybe pointing to an internal crack in the head ???....looks like an engine change is on the cards :mad:

lol drag em up a rough ass lane and leave em in the middle ....dont think they will pushing it out lol!!!

....no the noise isnt any louder with filler cap off the only time its louder is when i take the pipe off the intercooler.

......yes ive done that and it seems ok no smoke or back pressure coming through the filler cap.

......when head was off all pistons looked fine and the bores were imaculate i could still see the original homing marks there was no scoring at all and it dosent smoke at all either.

thanks for reply ratty ive held a bar against all parts of engine and underneath on sump and cant hear it anywhere except through the intercooler pipe from the inlet manifold.

thanks for the tip wolfydave ill try that out 1st thing in the morning,...if it dosent change engine tone what else could it be,standing by the exhaust its defintly missing sounds like its running on 3 but under bonnet seems nice and even apart from the knocking sound,the knocking sound is...
