    d-i-y reset eas not working

I don't know too much about Land Rover ECU's, but if the EAS has a legitimate fault, isn't it possible that as soon as the fault is cleared by the user, the fault detection system immediately sets it again ? I've just bought myself an OBD2 lead off eBay with the intention of leaving it in...

    hi 4.6hse problems

Small ends can give a tinny rattle, but big ends have a lot more bass associated with them, it's all a case of frequency. Big ends sound like someone hitting a hammer on a thick lump of steel. Small ends sound like someone hitting a hammer on a thin sheet of steel. Tinny rattles could be...

    P38 Harmon Kardon

OK, ordered a pair (below) for £11.16 all-in which seemed reasonable enough. As soon as they arrive, I'll whip the head off and take some pics. Thanks again for your help.

    P38 Harmon Kardon

What do these keys look like, are they the same as the U shaped bent round 4mm wire ones with flattened ends that we used to have back in the 80's ?

Tried that and it made no difference, the radio was still dead. Tried taking it out of the rack and powering up like I did when it made it's first noises and that made no difference either.

    P38 Harmon Kardon

Thing are not boding well for my long-term relationship with the Range Rover ...... I got a genuine RR Alpine CD changer for the RR, it was marked up as "2000MY Vogue" and had been fully tested before dispatch. I opened up the boot and plugged it in and it started whirring away. Ignition was...

First offroad outing - Traction Control

I'd expect a noise like the one you get if you pull away with one foot half way down on the accelerator, while the other foot is on the brake trying to restrict the vehicle speed to < 5 mph...... You do need an auto box to try this out

range rover p38 4.0 non starter

The high current side of the solenoid (the side that feeds the starter motor itself) is always live, the relay only controls the 12v supply to the pull-in coil on the solenoid. It may be worth checking that when you engage crank on the key, whether there is 12v on the pull-in coil side of the...

    Re aligning L322 steering wheel.

I would guess it's a case of winding one track rod in while winding the other out (by exactly the same number of turns to keep the tracking OK). A bit of trial and error really until you get the steering wheel in the right place .....

"select neutral" 2 secs after ign switched on

Unfortunately I believe you may have now waived some of your rights under the "Sale of Goods - Fit for Purpose Act" by allowing them to attempt to repair the new unit. I was always told to never ever allow anyone to attempt a repair of any kind to a brand new (but defective) unit. Once you...

    air/coil conversion

That's not the case in the UK, it just needs to be in a working state and properly installed. The MOT test centre visually inspect the mechanics but don't ask for any certification paperwork (yet !).

    L322 extra wires / plugs.

How are you trying to insert it, it sounds like you are trying to load it as a profile picture or avatar ? To embed a picture in a message, first you need to load the picture onto the web. If you don't have a website or webspace, then can load it onto a photo hosting site. Then, when you...

    Old Classic's electrics

Not too sure that low voltage will affect the way the engine runs although it will affect the injection pulsewidth. Part of the ECU pulsewidth calculation uses VBat so that it can compensate for the varying injector opening times caused by varying battery voltage. It does this by...

Key Fob problem with 1995 4.0 SE (battery keeps going flat)

Common sense seems to dictate that a duff RF unit can only cause the car battery to go flat, not the fob battery. If the fob battery goes flat, then it sounds like duff batteries or a faulty fob to me.......

    P38 Fuel & Sound

    63 litres = 13.9 UK gallons 300 km = 186 miles 90 km/h = 56 miles/hour That means you are getting (186/13.9) = 13.4 mpg 13.4 mpg at 56 mph seems pretty poor to me .....

    Well where do i start?

Unless there are signs of physical damage and/or wear on the lower "thrust" faces of the pistons (easily checked with a mic), then I can see no real reason to change them. Of course, if you decide to rebore the engine, oversized pistions will be needed so they will have to be changed ......

But isn't this flattening the car battery itself, I thought this guys problem was his fob batteries going flat ?
