These are normally wired so that they are only active when reverse gear is selected (i.e. they are powered by the reversing light circuit). That way you don't need to worry about trailers setting them off when you're driving down the road .....

Dumb question this, but ...... I have to replace the number plates on my '99 P38. The current ones are screwed on with rusty old screws that won't unscrew (heads chewed) so will need to be drilled out. I could possibly break the old plates around the screw heads and get a set of grips on them...

Isn't that what you'd expect when you connect a high-power charger to a flat battery ? Have you eliminated the RF receiver as being the cause of the problem ?
