2.5 DT Over Heating While Towing...Info...

That's the bit that threw me, I assumed that MAM was a single defined value and related to a fixed combination, i.e. (car+trailer+load), whereas it's a term applicable to several combinations i.e. (car or trailer+load or car+trailer+load). Now I think I understand.......

    P38 Range Rover

If you are happy with £4k/year insurance, then RR running costs will be nothing for you to worry about .........:) But seriously, to help answer your question, some more info might be useful. How many miles/year do you anticipate doing, how much do you intend to spend on your RR, are you...

2.5 DT Over Heating While Towing...Info...

Unfortunately I think there are still concerns in redhand's note. If what he says is 100% correct, then the maximum trailers we can tow with our LR's and RR's is (3500kg - vehicle weight) which when you consider that the RR clocks in at 2000kgs or so, gives a maximum trailer weight of 1750kgs...

Disconnecting the battery on a P38

It's made by a company called DAP which I believe is dutch ? Supposed to give 165hp so we'll see...... On the plus side, it looks like it's blown into an off-the-shelf cmos prom (27c256 I think) which opens up a lot of possibilities :)

Do early Range Rovers had Lambda sensors ?

This may help, HEGO's on RR's have either 3 or 4 wires, and one of those wires will go back through the loom to the ECU connector ..... You could also trace every wire on the ECU connector and see where they go ?

Do early Range Rovers had Lambda sensors ?

DOH ! Should have read it all more carefully. If you are transferring over the complete system, presumably you have the engine loom off the RR (without it you are really stuffed as trying to buy the sensor/actuator connectors could be challenging). Check the loom to see if there is a HEGO...

Disconnecting the battery on a P38

I need to remove the Bosch Motronic box so I can chip it. Is it OK to "hot-swap" that one ?

Do early Range Rovers had Lambda sensors ?

If you are planning to transfer the complete engine management system (i.e. sensors/actuators etc.) from an SD1 onto your RR, then presumably you'll also be using the SD1 ECU as well? In that case it doesn't really matter what RR's of the same era had fitted, so long as you transfer over...

    P38 Harmon Kardon

OK, I replaced the 10a fuse with a 10a breaker and got the radio code from the LR dealers in Yeovil (nice people - no problems at all). Powered the whole lot up and it all worked immediately. CD's selected OK and they played OK with the exception of "home-recorded" CD's that seemed a bit hit...

    d-i-y reset eas not working

If you go to this site and scroll down, there are a couple of You-Tube videos listed there: Range Rover EAS Reset Tools The first covers EASunlock Software operation, the second EAScalibrate Software operation. They are interesting and well worth watching as they explain it all at a...

Disconnecting the battery on a P38

I have seen nightmare stories of things that have happened to P38's that have had their batteries go flat. There are stories of alarm problems and all sorts of other "quirks" resulting from doing this. I need to remove the ECU on my late '99 DSE, and to do that (sensibly), the battery should...

rrc wont start or rev on petrol

Sometimes referred to as a Lambda sensor, I don't where it is on V8 RR, but typically it will be screwed into a boss which is welded into the exhaust system somewhere between the exhaust manifold merge point and the first box in the exhaust system. They look a bit like this: The "teat...

rrc wont start or rev on petrol

You can easily verify if that is the case by temporarily disconnecting the HEGO sensor(s) which should force open-loop fuelling based on the maps calibrated by LR (i.e. it will not apply the adaptive closed-loop fuel trims). If it runs fine on petrol with the HEGO sensors disconnected, then...

2.5 DT Over Heating While Towing...Info...

The problem seems to be that GTW has two completely different meanings, Gross Trailer Weight and Gross Train Weight. However, I do know that a RR can legally tow 3500kgs ...... Of course the maximum you can legally tow is also defined by when you passed you driving test, if you passed your...

Do early Range Rovers had Lambda sensors ?

Just checked, apparently HEGO sensors were fitted to the RR 3.5 V8 in some markets from 1986-1990. LPG installations are not really too relevant as they are all aftermarket installs and so could be fitted to any model and any year. In those cases, any combination of sensors and actuators could...

Do early Range Rovers had Lambda sensors ?

You wouldn't have lambda sensor(s) unless you were intending to run closed-loop fuelling and to do that, you would also need catalyst(s) fitted. I don't think they started fitting cats until the 3.9 v8 came out in 1989, so the answer to your question would be no. The 3.5v8 only ever ran open...

Convert to Quaker and get several wifes, apparently they work better in packs :) Failing that you could start by checking the oil levels and oil "quality" in the auto-box ?

    P38 Harmon Kardon

OK, keys arrived today so I whipped the head out. Picture of the wiring shown below ...... I pulled out the red 10a fuse on the back of the head and it had blown. Thinking it may have blown due to the additional load from the CD, I replaced it with a 15A one and put the head back in. Radio...
