The problems I had were not as bad as yours but my clutch pedal kept sticking down, had the slave and master cylinder done and it fixed the problem.

Mine had two wires already but when I changed mine it came with an earth wire just long enough to earth it on the bolts that secure the horn bracket.

I removed the inlet manifold, intercooler cleaned all of the sludge out with petrol and changed the manifold gasket. Changed my horn and fitted a steering guard. The old girl is purring like a kitten and I think I have fixed the worst oil leaks.... Bonus!

I can't hear any blowing noises, only the belt spuealing! It was worse than this but I de-greased and jet washed the engine last week. When I blanked the egr I noticed a thick oily sludge in the inlet manifold i bet the intercooler is the same, il change the gasket and clean them out at the same...

What's the consequences of the belt shredding itself other than needing a new belt?? Does it damage anything?? Might just replace the belt any way depending on cost.

I replaced mine a few months ago, new ones came with plastic gaskets and I just used them. After seeing this thread I'm thinking of taking them off and getting some wilko foam to do a slightly better job.

Have you checked if anything is loose and just moving about when you corner? when I got my 90 the bracket holding the battery in place was a bit loose so it rocked an made a noise. Any loose components in the door??
