What wires should come out the heater fan sliding swictch?

Been rooting around in there for the last half hour and there isn't a loose earth wire anywhere to be seen  Seems odd because one of the previous owners has done a rewire by the looks of it and made a fairly neat job of it... any idea where the earth wire should enter the dash?

What wires should come out the heater fan sliding swictch?

Right-o, cheers Daz! Time to get rooting around to see if I can find a black wire hidden in the jungle down there now

What wires should come out the heater fan sliding swictch?

As per the title... heater fan ain't working, I've hooked it up directly to a battery and the fan/motor is fine but the thing just doesn't work using the normal slider switch. I've looked behind the dash and there are two wires hooked up to the bottom of the slider, there is a bare terminal at...

    Thermostat housing bolts

Managed to shear one of the bolts on my defender 200tdi's thermostat housing :( Could anyone give me a link to where to buy some new ones? Can't seem to find them anywhere, can't even find a part number. Cheers

200 Tdi overheating - or is it?

Took it apart a bit this morning and it was the thermostat that was fecked - obviously it was opeining a little bit because the top hose was getting warm but I took it out and boiled it and it didn't budge at all. Going to run it without the stat for a few days until the replacement arrives...

200 Tdi overheating - or is it?

After driving a few thousand miles with the temp gauge sitting about 2/3rds up the white on the guage once it was up to temp, driving home last night (A-road at 55- 60) it went beyond that into the black and almost into the red. Stopped and had a look at everything - top rad hose was warm/hot...

    Electrical problems :-(

Suspect it'll be an earth problem somewhere. If you do a search on here you'll find the locations of the various earth straps. I had similar problems (electrical equipment operating when it wasn't supposed to be). Found the relevant earth straps, took em off, gave them a good clean, reattached...

    Anything to add?

Evening! Just wondering if there's anything that would be sensible to add to the jobs I've done on the 110 (200Tdi) so far - tried to give it a good 'once over'. Things I've done - Engine oil/filter change Air filter Fuel filter Gearbox/Transfer box oil Diff oil Timing belt Greased...

Is your Defender your main vehicle?

No, got a mental RenaultSport Clio for my usual car, the Defender is a joint cunning plan between myself and my old man to have a real man's car for towing stuff, going fishing, taking stuff to the dump and other such activities :D Always liked Landies, learned to drive on an ancient, rattly...

Tiny little leak on head bolt - 200 Tdi

Tiny little leak on head bolt - 200 Tdi

Looking at things again, I'm being a bit of a dumbass with my terminology. It's the front valve cover bolt that has these symptoms, not a head bolt. Same diagnosis?

Tiny little leak on head bolt - 200 Tdi

It's been replaced about five or six years ago according to all the receipts. Thanks for that, will keep an eye out.

Tiny little leak on head bolt - 200 Tdi

Noticed that there is a tiny little bit of moisture round the front head bolt on my 200 Tdi - drives fine, doesn't overheat, and the leak is practically insignificant - it's not losing coolant (well, it obviously is losing a tiny amount, but not enough to have made the level in the tank budge...

    Gutted!!! Any thoughts??

    Get a 200 Tdi. :bounce:

Where should the temp gauge sit on a 200tdi?

Cheers for that professor :D The temperature indicator sits solid at about 2/3 no matter how hard you beast it so hopefully it's nothing too grim, might try replacing the temp sender if the rad flush doesn't change things.

Where should the temp gauge sit on a 200tdi?

I wonder... just been poking around a bit more after a 20 minute run - the radiator does get hot in the top half, but cools down pretty drastically (i.e. stone cold) towards the bottom. Think I'll give it a proper flush through at the weekend.

Where should the temp gauge sit on a 200tdi?

Mine is as exactly as the OP's - sitting towards, but not quite at, the top of the white. Just had it for a 15 minute blast - driving fairly hard. The temp goes up to the 3/4 point and sits there. The top rad hose is hot, but not so hot you can't hold it and the bottom rad hose is warm. The...

How far should injector pump pin go in?

Just doing the timing belt on the 200 Tdi - how far should the pin go into the hole on the injection pump pulley when it's properly aligned - just a few extra mm past the depth of the pulley or a bit more? Cheers.
