oh and yeh arc welders i would stay away from unless your doing heavy welding outside, its hard to produce nice clean welds with decent penetration on thinner metals,no matter how small your welder,without lots and lots of practise and experience!!

this definitly sounds like immobiliser faults,the fact its not starting from the key,and by turning over with diesel pipes of you should get fuel,wich you arent,sounds like immobiliser is wired in to cut the exciter wire to the starter motor and the 12v + feed to the fuel shut of solenoid. try...
