its the engine. its there when the engine fires up. on idle it clunks at idle speed. the sound is coming from the engine block. cant pin it down to a location as its so bloody loud my ears cant handle it! think massey furguson tractor loud!

changing my manifold on 300tdi disco. just had quick through the bible (haynes manual) say's i require a turbo to manifold gasket. checked ebay quickly and no sign of any? and i dont remember seeing any sort of gasket/seal? do i need one? is there another name for them?

removed the turbo BOLTS so i could remove the turbo.... changing the manifold. and i have the nuts and bolts now. cheap as chips from local builders merchant.
