Oops 300tdi, 1997 Defender. I think a lot of vehicles have these but they don't say what they're for.

Anyone know what the small tube is for, which is connected to the top of the air cleaner hose directly behind the filter housing? Mine goes across the bulkhead and is open ended. Have searched in previous comments but can't see anything.

I need to spray my chassis with a protective coating. I haven't got a proper compressor but I do have a T-Max tyre compressor (10 bar). Has anyone tried one of these, or similar to power a spray gun? I know you really need a tank for continous spraying but I don't mind doing it in bursts.

It hasn't got a rusty chassis. It's just the front member just has a few holes in it. What I am saying is the bumper I have is huge and makes up easily for that front box section under the rad. Evenas it is it is very strong. Maybe the heading sounded too dramatic.

Thanks for that, but that would be a huge undertaking. I contacted JLR and they said there is no replacement for it. Looks like a fabrication and welding job to me. I don't think the member is that structural anyway as the bumber will be far more of a support than that thin tin box section...

Just had an MOT on my 1997 300tdi and it failed due to holes in the front cross member. One of the holes is close the junction with the chassis side. The guy who does the welding there hasn't seen it yet, but to me it looks like it will require a new crossmember. Anyone had the same issues or...

Managed to find a Pioneer flexible pipe on eBay for £44. If anyone else has this problem the part number was ANR2162. I just hope this is the right one when it comes.

Thanks for that but I have been through most of them and when I ordered a couple none of them were big enough and most don't give accurate measurements. I just wondered if anyone had larger wheels and found one that fitted.

Added security when I am not at home? Knowing how thieves work you make it as difficult as you can for them. Hopefully the more steps they have to get through the least likely it can be stolen.
