    Getting into welding

Hi all, basically I have done a bit of research and decided I want to teach myself how to weld :) Is this a good welder to start off on MIG WELDER 130 AMP PRICE INCLUDES VAT GASLESS MIG WELDER | eBay ? What else would I need to start welding other than some scrap metal to practice on...

Partly to try and learn some mechanics-which I am very very slowly, in the last year I`ve got to grips with using an angle grinder and rivet gun. Fitted the front and rear matting, rear door, pioneering tools and mounts myself, changed the seats and retrimmed new ones myself, waxoyled it myself...

It has a 200tdi discovery engine, hope that helps!

That`s the stuff I have-minus the axle stands and now the 52mm socket and spanner.I have a haynes manual-but finding a lot of the army stuff to be different, like locks and the wiring on the dash so it`s not always that helpful. It`s a 1986 110, used to be a 2.5na

What would tools would you recommend? :) On my list to buy so far: axles stands. I have a large selection of spanners and socket sets, a few hammers, an angle grinder, a jack, screwdrivers, drill and lots of bits, rivet gun, a few clamps, pliers, I do have access to a vice but don`t own one.

Thanks :) although I understand its not something that is used often, think I would rather have something for the future landys and projects!

I am trying to learn! Managed a filter and oil change by myself. Thanks for the input, can someone please send me a link for a press for the bushes :)

If you got the wrong end of the stick-I don`t really know what I`m on about!

I think the biggest problems for me are-I don`t have a nice garage that is stacked with every available tool, and everyone seems to have a mate/dad/uncle etc who can help them, then people say its easy-I`m sure it is for them when they have someone to help them and years of experience!

RDGTOOLS 1/2 TON ARBOUR PRESS / BEARINGS / BUSHES | eBay Would it do the job? If I can use this and a socket set to get the bushes in and out that would save me some money.

Just looking at prices-think it would be £80 for a bushing press kit and £40 for a press ( both ebay jobbies)- along with axles stands (I already have spanner and socket set and a normal jack) would this be all I need?

I`m currently at uni in Chichester, but most of the tools that I own are in Bristol (I normally do any work on it in Bristol during the holidays)

I`m ordering the battery hold down tray, and will order the bulb later. I honestly wouldn`t know where to start replacing bushes and radius arms...

Thanks for the sympathy! :) I`m taking on as much part time work as I possibly can, and spending all of it on the landy

I suppose the battery bracket and the bulb light I could do myself, but I wouldn`t even know where to start with the rest :/

Yes I did, and they recommended I had the work done soon-ish. Does the price for parts and labour seem reasonable? I just want to get to the stage where it does not need anything major needing doing for a year or two if that makes sense :)

Missed out an alternator, battery, clutch, locks and door tops from that list-so basically a new car haha

Yes there is some wobble when steering unfortunately. It just seems to be a never-ending money pit :( :( -I have spent more £4000 on it in the last year-recon engine, new rear door, pioneering tools, re-trimmed newer design front seats, seat covers, gearbox oil change, lots of paint, waxoyl...

Hi I recently took my ex-mod 110 to a landrover garage that came recommended to me, and they wrote up a list of stuff to do to it. Could you please tell me if the list seems reasonable, and give me some more information of what actually needs doing (In simple terms, I am not very good at...
