P38 DSE Injection Pump Timing Woes

I think the 1st cam lobe being vertical is the starting point, as a guide to being at TDC at approximately 90 degrees further round. Its then that the pin sits in place, until the adjustments are made. I have to admit ive questioned myself a fair bit through this lol.

P38 DSE Injection Pump Timing Woes

Im 99% certain.... When i find the lowest point on the dti, i set the gauge to zero, and then continuing to crank the engine round i can fit the pin in place at zero and 0.10mm. i tried many times to find another location further on, but unless im doing something wrong there wasn't another...

Hi Guys, Hope everyone is well and most importantly safe during these difficult times? Ive recently received my diesel injection pump back from a complete overhaul from diesel bob, and on fitting i am seriously struggling with setting the lift timing. Following everything on Rave to set the...

    P38 Engine Mount Questions...

Yes ill definitely be airing on the side of caution with it that's for sure! Fingers crossed it works out! I cranked the engine round to TDC, used the flywheel locking pin and then used the pump removal tool to push it out.......hopefully that's all I needed to do?

    P38 Engine Mount Questions...

Hi all, I have removed my diesel injection pump in order to have it rebuilt and recalibrated, and whilst doing so (which was a nightmare owing to the following) have noticed that at least two of the bolts in the engine mount bracket that connect to the engine below the injection pump have...

I will definitely have a go at adjusting the position of this very soon. Hopefully I will perfect its positioning. Hopefully it should be possible to do with the inlet manifold still in position?

P38 2.5 DSE Cold Start Problem

I will definitely be doing this when I get the chance to. On a cold start....when I can finally get the thing to fire up, it idles at 800rpm. I take it from cold it should be revving at around 1000rpm?

P38 2.5 DSE Cold Start Problem

I tried to scribe around the section as much as I could before I removed it. But like you said, it must be very sensitive to movement. I dont suppose you know which way I would need to tap it in order to advance the fuelling? Or would I be best to try and find someone who can run live...

P38 2.5 DSE Cold Start Problem

Apologies gents.....i mentioned that I replaced the leaking seal on the injector pump in my forst post. I probably should have gone into more detail with that. Basically, I took the top plate off and had to go further down. To the next level of the pump to replace the seal. Everything went...

P38 2.5 DSE Cold Start Problem

Would the poor starting when cold have anything to do with me removing the top of the diesel injector pump to replace the seal? It only seems to have gone downhill since then? Ive just read that the pump need to be calibrated via live data to set the fuelling to 3.5 to 5.5mg on a hot engine...

P38 2.5 DSE Cold Start Problem

P38 2.5 DSE Cold Start Problem

All 6 plugs were removed and were tested individually using jump leads from the battery. But to be honest....we didnt check any voltages going to the plugs themselves when they are in situe in the engine. Where abouts is the plug relay or the temperature sensor? Is it simple to test? The...
