    Cheap T-reg freelander 1.8 worth a punt?

Seconded, or someones tightened up the jubilee clip too tight where the air pipe meets the throttle body. Very simple thing to fix really, would be a shame to leave it based on that alone.

    Cheap T-reg freelander 1.8 worth a punt?

I'd say it depends if you're any good with a toolkit and haynes manual. I'm more than happy with my 1.8 freeby, but it's cost me a lot in upkeep and time. If you're not afraid to get your hands dirty then go ahead i suppose.

    Freelander starting problem

No problem, also a quick spray of GT85 or WD40 around the injector loom might be worthwhile. Maybe even take off the plugs and give them a clean. Definitely sounds electrical.

    Insurance

Didn't go college when i left school and worked instead. Cycled to work each way 5 miles while i was saving for my freeby and insurance.

Inlet Manifold - How many gaskets?

I used the paper gasket for my throttle bodies but you'll be wanting the rubber one if it's the plastic manifold. It sits in a recess nice and snug.

    Freelander front tow bar

It would be. Front of the freelander 1 is very very strong for the class of vehicle. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong as i've not had my whole bumper off before but i'm led to believe the bar behind the plastic bumper is actually solid aluminium? Mine looks like it from looking from underneath...

    Wing mirror glass

You'll find plenty on ebay half the price of the OEM ones, but unless they state that they're actual genuine wingmirror glass all you'll get is sticky back glass. Best to go to a stealer unfortunately. You could always try get a second hand one off ebay. Or if you can find an ebay listing that...

    Freelander starting problem

Have you got the spark plug cover on the top of the engine? These can go missing by dodgy mechanics and help moisture get near the plugs. Otherwise the plugs themselves may be near the end of their life. Would also be worth checking dizzy cap, rotor arm and HT leads. A spray around of some WD40...

Do you regret buying a Freelander?

No regrets whatsoever. Although mines off the road with the clutch fork gone i think, waiting to be repaired once i save some cash again after buying my motorbike. Wasn't a bad clutch either. Did some fun work to the engine so she'd put out a few more ponies and it couldn't handle the power :D...

    Insurance

I got my 1.8 freeby when i was 18. Went with ecarinsurance.com or somethink as i could pay monthly and not be tied in. Got a no claims off em as well. Worked out at just over £3000 for my first year of driving. After a year went with adrian flux... £900. Both third party fire and theft tho.

    rattle noise from front end

Very strange that there weren't any backing plates with the pads... or were they already on the pads themselves?

    Hello from Ireland!

You's gonna get ur fecking arse kicked BoB! That's BoB. The village idiot of the forum. He's a supposed millionaire, done every job under the sun. But i can still beat him on a pushbike :D Welcome from Cork by the way.

    2 Issues, advice needed

With the freelanders VCU/IRD a single tyre shouldn't be replaced on it's own. Is the wear between the tyres noticable? The newer tyres should always go to the back as it needs the rears to have the larger circumference so they're rotating speed is slower. Should at a minimum replace two tyres...

    Coolant mods - EWP

Will try and fit one of these in mine once i get my Emerald ECU. But those pics are bloomin difficult to relate to a freelanders engine bay!

    rattle noise from front end

Did you put the pad retaining clips back in correctly? And did you also put the backing plates (usually rubber) behind the pads?

Freelander V6 extremly loud tappity knocking noise

Check intake manifold for oil. I'm sure i've read the manifolds can sometimes make a tappety noise on the V6's sometimes?

Are all your tyres the same size? At the same wear levels? Make sure the less worns are at the rear of the vehicle. Do you know which wheels lose traction as you turn on full lock? i.e. they'll 'skip' i assume?

    Two things

You can fill the IRD from the top somewhere i think. Can't remember where exactly but it's fiddly to get do. You'll want a bottle with a bit of pipe on it. PM OldIrishWulf as it was his IRD we were filling up after doing a driveshaft.

    Thank god for insurance

Oi you. Just cos you aint got quads of steel to propel you as fast as me :D I'm off out on my pushbike right now as it seems. Just about to get changed into my lycra and then go and race the city traffic. Overtaking taxi's is the most fun. Stops me from getting an ugly gut at least and is ten...
