Just read this thread - I am having the same issue on my 1998 S reg K series - I will disconnect the hose and check as I know the previous owner changed head gasket about 2 years ago and I get a gurgling in the car every morning.

I have looked this morning and the 2 long bolts on drives side of the engine which hold the engine in place have sheered. Is this a common problem ? See attached image.

Awww bugger yet another problem with the car. Just driving home and heard a huge thud, hobbled the car home and looked under the bonnet and the engine is now lopsided. Looks like the engine mounting on the drivers side has collapsed. The car still runs though which is supprising...
