    Freelander stereo and speaker upgrade.

The left hand side of the cubby hole is deeper than the right hand side, so it may not be possible to fit two due to the depth of the woofer cone. Also, it would stop the cubby hole being lockable at all as both catches would have to be removed. You'd then have to find somewhere else for the...

    Freelander 54 Jacking Tools

There's nothing wrong with the banter mate, if you don't like it just turn a blind eye, it's how this forum works. You're likely to get the answer eventually as proven. Best friends? how old are you? We're not all strangers to each other either. Many of us know someone else off this forum in...

    Freelander stereo and speaker upgrade.

The JBL's along with a lot of other components don't like the bass too much, but are VERY good at handling the high notes. I'd highly recommend a sub to go alongside them. JBL's only handing the mid-high tones sounds great with something else handling the lows.

    Cheaper GPS Trackers (DIY!)

Only just seen this thread but should have posted much sooner. I've got an old GPS mobile phone hidden in my freeby somewhere (i won't say where on a public forum but it's VERY difficult to get to). It's constantly powered on by the battery and will last for a few days if the car battery...

Is the td4 really any better???

I'd rather have my British Rover lump in mine any day than a ****ing German BMW lump. Not to mention, mine would leave a TD4 in the dust head to head.

    Sill Damage :(

Seconded, I'm eventually going to put some of these on mine as i've had a damaged sill for over a year now. Doesn't bother me enough though and it's a lot worse than yours!

    Handbrake problems, advice needed please

Will probably need the shoes doing. The handbrake in thoery will go to 90 degrees, so if it still isn't holding in it's highest position then it's time for the shoes to be replaced.

Got to say it.....I'm a real fan of my K Series!!

Very easy to do, just unbolt the old one, bolt on the new and re-attach throttle cable and throttle position sensor wiring. Takes about 20 mins. Also won't warp like the 48mm plastic throttle body.

    I did it - bought a freelander!

I've left my landy behind in Ireland as i'm back over on my motorbike but can get some pics of my sub when i'm back in Ireland in two weeks. Kept the standard grills on the speakers so not really got anything to take photos of as far as they're concerned. Have a look on ebay or somewhere and...

    Freelander stereo and speaker upgrade.

I've a pair of 16.5cm JBL's in the front of mine, with a FLI 12" sub that i've built into my cubby hole in the boot, and made a grill to fit over it. With a sony bluetooth stereo, i absolutely love my sound system in my landy.

Got to say it.....I'm a real fan of my K Series!!

Glad to hear it. More people should be appreciative of the K series. I personally think it's a very good engine. If you're feeling it's a bit underpowered at times, you may want to fit a conical K&N in place of the airbox. Provides a bit more grunt and if you want more still, you can fit a...

    Cheap T-reg freelander 1.8 worth a punt?

Upgrading is very easy, just a bolt on, bolt off job with the throttle cable to swap over and a electrical plug for the throttle position sensor to unplug and plug back in ;) Consumption wouldn't be much different, go for the conical filter as well and you'd probably be about the same as with...

    I did it - bought a freelander!

I may still have my old load cover in my dads garage in the UK (done a van conversion since then), and i'm heading back for two weeks in two days. Where are you based? As for the HDC light, unscrew the gear knob and lift off the switch body from the stick. The two wires going to the switch can...

    Cheap T-reg freelander 1.8 worth a punt?

Ah, well upgrading to the 52mm alloy throttle body is easy and cheap enough sure. Remove the airbox and fit a conical K&N filter while you're at it. Will make it grunt quite nicely.

Which kind of colling fluid to use???

Ideally to do a full flush you should remove the thermostat (but put housing back) and put a hose pipe in the inlet port with both top and bottom hoses removed. Same with rad, just don't burst your rad with a powerful hosepipe. If you don't do this you risk traces of the blue being stuck at...

    dip stick measurements Oeps

You'd be better off buying a new dip stick as i can bet that the metal part probably wouldn't have gone all the way into the plastic when it was moulded anyway. Get yourself down to a scrappy, any dipstick off an old Rover K series will do. Even the 1.4's / 1.6's found in your Rover 25's or 200's.

need help asap please!it wont start!

Dash lights going out is a sign of a low battery, it's cos it's trying to put all the juice to the starter and there's hardly any juice in there, so your dash lights go out due to this. Dash lights are only LED's/small bulbs. They could run off a watch battery.
