is there coolant running thru the inlet manifold??

Shouldn't do if the inlet gasket fails, worst case is coolant gets into the cylinders, burns off and then causes the head gasket to go due to overheating. Or water could just be lost to the outside of the engine, cause the engine to overheat and the head gasket to go. The head gasket is what...

is there coolant running thru the inlet manifold??

No worries, If the gasket has an internal leak (i.e. on the inner walls of the gasket) then coolant can get sucked into the cylinders through the air ports. If the gasket has an external leak (i.e. on the outer wall of the gasket) coolant will run down your engine or burn off if it's hot...

is there coolant running thru the inlet manifold??

I presume you're referring to the 1.8k? The manifold is fairly easy to do yourself, but fiddly in places so you'll need an extension socket. Coolant doesn't actually run through the manifold, the manifold blocks a coolant port on the right hand side of the engine (unless you've got a VVC), and...

    correct offset????

If i remember correctly, the offset on 16" is 35mm, not sure if it would be the same on 17" alloys. As for are they any good? Well, depends which brand you go with. Ultralite make decent alloys, these come in a 42mm offset so will sit further out than the standard alloys. Ultralite Wheels My...

knocking noise near passenger side wheel

Try and explain when it is that it's knocking. Over potholes it's most likely to be your ball joint on the suspension arm. Also like MHM said, it could be your drop links that attach to your anti roll bar. Take the wheel off and give these a bit of a shake, any movement and the joints have gone...

What engine is it? Take a pic if possible. There's not many places for a fuel leak if it's a 1.8k, but seeing as you've said it's located behind the alternator i doubt it's a K series.

    Suspension Worries

The back end will step out on mine before i could say there's anything near excessive body roll. In fact yours should handle better as you've got lower profile tyres and have a little less distance from the ground.

    Cheap T-reg freelander 1.8 worth a punt?

Tis a very fast 4X4 with throttle bodies but it's expensive to do and will need other things as well like heavy duty clutch and new ECU.

    Suspension Worries

Meant to feel like an ocean liner? Oh yeah i read that in the brochure  Seriously, i chuck mine about in and out of the corners like no tomorrow. It's not meant to be like that at all. The freelander is one of the best 4X4's in its class when it comes to road handling. I've even got...

    Brit-Part Poly bush kit DC7002???

Seconded... Flo Flex are good and make good stuff, have a few of their bushes on my freeby. They have most stuff on their ebay shop. Wouldn't touch britpart after some of the things i've read about them on here and other places. Don't be fooled by how much they pay the magazines to appear in...

Do you regret buying a Freelander?

I've visited a few. No i'm not mental. They're great places to explore when they've been abandoned. Very scary and creepy in parts. Some of my friends got some great photographs, shame i can't find them now. Edit: Just found some of the photos on a mates old myspace.

    Suspension Worries

Take your wheels off and check the condition of the anti roll bar linkages. One or two may be bent. Also check the condition of your anti roll bar bushes, and the anti roll bar itself. It's cheaper to check and try these than swapping your suspension willy nilly.

    Cheap T-reg freelander 1.8 worth a punt?

For the class of the vehicle, in my opinion it's the best choice. Get some manly wheels and tyres and then come back and tell us your opinion :D Granted, it's no Defender but i'm more than happy with how my freeby handles off road.

That was third party fire and theft. Fully comp was over £5000 for me. Location drastically alters the price though. Crewe isn't the best place to own a car.
