Decat downpipe and centre silencer section

Well it took 4 hours, I finished in the dark and I needed to remove 2 cross members but I fitted the de cat section! You can really hear the turbo whistle. The centre silencer section, forget it! The bolts are so corroded/flaking/rusted i'm going to have to pay kwik Fit to do it I think...

    Gti brigade at traffic lights

Years ago I had an Audi Coupe Quattro 20V and got put in my place once by a Pug 205 GTI 1.9. Those cars were fast!! The Audi was so heavy, nearly 2 ton I think.

Decat downpipe and centre silencer section

Many thanks for the sound (excuse the pun) advice, and ref more noise: - a nice noise though!! I have been in a TD5 with both sections and it sounded very nice and hardly any extra cabin noise.

Decat downpipe and centre silencer section

I have decided to take the plunge, i'm going to buy a decat and centre section.......and fit them myself! I have sprayed the bolts (including those on the cross member) with WD40 in preparation but I have one final question. Do the separate sections of the exhaust just bolt together or do I...

    TD5 Engine Flat Spot

Just had a look at mine and it is the EGR with the long EGR cooler next to it which means it is a bit of a pain to get to the bolts holding the EGR valve in place as there is another valve, just to the right of it. What is that extra valve!!?? No wonder people just blank this system off!!

    TD5 Engine Flat Spot

Is the EGR easy to remove and clean (as a short term measure before i blank it off)?

    TD5 Engine Flat Spot

I had a flat spot.......until tonight! I sprayed the MAP sensor, the MAF sensor and the Air box sensor (AAP)with Electric contact cleaner and my TD5 is driving so so so much better. The sensor in the intake manifold (the MAP i think) was completely gunked up.:)

Decat downpipe and centre silencer section

I have checked (dragged myself underneath!) and it looks like there is a CAT, a long bulge in the pipe. Perhaps I could take it off and smash the honeycomb insides out!!! :mil36:

Decat downpipe and centre silencer section

Hi all After lots of research I have decided to take the plunge and buy a de-cat section and centre silencer section of exhaust for my '51 manual TD5. I want to free up some power and I like to hear the turbo whistle! However, where from??? There is so much variance between price (which...

    Disco Fuel leak

Forgot to say, if it is the fuel line you should be able to repair it from underneath, without having to pull up the carpet etc

    Disco Fuel leak

As 50 pence says, just check it's not where the fuel lines have rubbed on the cross member, as it only leaks when the fuel pump is operating. The same thing happened to me. I did a patch job by inserting a new section of pipe and it's lasted over 2 years.

    Drivers Door window Update

Both front windows on my TD5 need doing, i've got the new regs, just cant be bothered at the moment!!! I hate those little blue, plastic screws that hold the door card on!!!!

    Just the decat down pipe?

Why do Disco owners only replace the down pipe (with a decat pipe) and centre sections of their exhaust and not the whole thing, is it simply because of cost?

    Cup holders?

Twodoor is correct, look at these American spec cupholders. They screw in next to the gear lever. Rover Connectrion-Land Discovery Cup Holder or Land Rover Range Discovery Genuine OEM Factory Cup Holders

    Disco TD5 fuel leak

I fixed mine 2 years ago. I cut out the damaged section and replaced with a new bit of pipe inserted into the 2 cut ends. Has worked a treat ever since!

    disco2 window regulator

It is very easy. I had to fix the drivers door regulator some time ago as the toothed arm fell off, it's done it again so this time i'll replace the whole regulator. The nearside is playing up so i'm going to do that one as well. Anyway. From memory it is possible to do it within 20 mins and I...

    air con

As martinhollings says, your engine got too hot. Possibly an airlock in the sytem pushed the coolant out. You need to reset the ECU via a diagnostic tool, that will tell the AC fan/sensor the engine temp is ok. Check your coolant level. Top it up if needed and run the engine with the reservoir...

    air con

Check the coolant level, mine was doing this, it's a fail safe if the engine gets too hot. To temporarily stop the AC fan running i've had to take the fuse out. Going to plug in a diagnostic tool to see if I can reset it. I'll let you know what happens
