Well have cured my mis-firing but car is now overheating and system is pressurising - you can see it from the radiator overflow even on tickover from cold. It does not get worse when engine is hot, so seems to indicate blown head gasket rather than cracked cylinder head. Not surprised after...

my P38 2.5 dse is overheating after a few mins running. I think it may be thermostat as everything else looks OK (fan running, no leaks etc.) BUT :eek: Checking the header bottle there is a return pipe from the radiator that feeds into the neck, and there is what appears to be smoke...

Yes mine is a P38. If you look inside the sunroof opening there is a hole which looks like the top of a pipe on each side ! Still the pollen filter makes more sense I could not quite understand how a pipe that presumably goes to the wheel arch could let water into the passenger footwell -...

I have been looking at this sunroof But I still cant find them. Have levered the inner wing to one side but can see any pipe in there, is it hidden somewhere?

Now you've done it !! that's the wire that provides power to supply false electrical failures intermittently. ;) It's a special feature on the P38 :pop2:

Try some releasing agent , Plus-Gas is v.good - (not WD40, some folks think it's the same it isn't. It does penetrate but it is a water dispersant not a releasing agent). After it has soaked in for a while try tightening first to 'break the seal' (this step is important), then undo.

I have same problem but it is not the pollen filter, mine is bone dry. But I had not heard about the sun-roof drainpipes, will check for that. Especially as I have also had some water drip from the interior light - the one by the windscreen. Have currently taken out all the dash etc to check...

Mmm - thanks, I'll have a look for these tonight. But at the same time the engine overheated, temp shot up to max & engine shut down to minimum revs. So how can loss of coolant get into the left footwell ?

My water leak is on the passengers side, no water on drivers. Does this mean it is not the O-rings ? Anyone ?:violin:

Yes I hope that's it. And I have also had an intermittent electrical prob for a few weeks that no-one has been able to trace. I wonder if water has been spraying out for some time behind the dash. Could be it :rolleyes:

Can anybody help? after 2 months I cannot find why my 2.5 DSE is misfiring. I need an electrician with P38 experience. Testbook shows an error (crankshaft sensor invalid value) which I am assured does not exist - a new sensor has been fitted & checked by two garages including Swindon 4x4 RR...

I have a 1998 2.5 DSE. When you change to low ratio it beeps 3 times and displays a low sign on the dash, the left side of the gear change console illuminates. When you change back to normal, again 3 beeps and the right hand (normal) side of the central console lights up. Hope this helps...
