Does it matter if the blanking plate is fitted to the erg valve rather than to the manifold, who ever did mine originally has fitted it like that?

I got a brass one, fitted perfectly thanks. Didn't get an o ring seal so i will have to get one, the old one didn't have one on either. Thanks for you help.
