My coming visit to the mechanic

Next Tuesday I'll be happily (it's under warrenty) leaving my 2005 td4 in the mechanic to have a few issues looked at. 1. Aircon spits water through vents. 2. Weird electrical behaviour as seen in strange buzzing noise behind instrument panel on turning the car on before engine start-up, rear...

    Help Wanted Please

My 2005 Td4 differs from yours in that is has the sensor. However it shares with yours the same little persistant oil leak coming out of the inlet tube (even though it was changed). Nice to see it's standard...:D

    central locking system gets wet?

Hi all, I know there have been threads about central locking but thought worth posting my question and doubts. Central locking has gone erratic, back door opens, doesn't open, central unlocking stops working, horn sounds to warn me for (apparantly) no reason, etc. Noticed today a strange one...

    silly question time - HDC

OK... I confess, it's mainly me. Just can't see a button without wanting to press it....

    silly question time - HDC

Bearing in mind I have two young children who sit in the back seat and who's eyes are drawn constantly towards the hdc button my question is - what happens if you press it when driving normally, ie. out of 1st or reverse gear? I figure probably nothing but I would like a more informed answer....

    Viscous coupling probs?

I bought a 2005 td4 about a month ago and when I mentioned in the dealership all the "famous" freelander problems I'd been hearing about he told me to expect the vcu to go at about 120k km and that it would cost about 600 euros to replace.

    Time to panic or paranoia

For what it's worth, the same thing happened to me three weks ago on a TD4. After my initial attack of panic and paranoia I realised that for some reason coolent had leaked out of the tank. )I couls see wet areas around and under it). I topped it up and figured that in the last service a few...

    Remote Locking Problem

2500 kms into my td4 freelander

Thanks guys.... on Monday I'll be taking it in to have the mechanic look at it and if he tells me it's just normal "motor vapor" at least I'll have some more ideas on my side..... now there's the question of the brief loss of power (lasting about a second) at between 2000 and 2500 revs. Is...

2500 kms into my td4 freelander

thanks ming, thanks mondo..... I'm pretty sure the leak is coming from the tube so I'll have a look at your advice..... I'm sort of surprised that the lr mechanic looked at it and just tightened the connection around the tube, if theoretically oil (sorry, motor vapor in his words) sholdn't be...

2500 kms into my td4 freelander

Newbie back again after doing the Spanish version of green-laning, which is dust/rock-laning and it has worked great so far. I'm looking forward to the time (which I know will come eventually) when I can drive it over things that go bang under the car and not whince. But in the meantime I whince...

    New here, new freelander,

so its a big square lump that I can thrash around. Sounds like the wife describing me. So advice taken..., I'm off the the Pyrenees day after tomorrow to start thrashing for three weeks. I let you know how it went... thanks all...

    New here, new freelander,

Well at least new for me, it's a 2005 td4. And to set the tone for all my posts in the future here's a strange question to start with. How should a Freelander be driven? I'm a motorbike man .... never really driven much carwise and those I have done have always been petrol so diesel is new to...
