    Cracked block diagnosis

Add some pics of the heads, deck and gaskets.. Your descriptions a bit hard to follow without pictures but it sounds like a head gasket failure to me.... I bet the waterways blown through the fire ring near the shiny piston.... It's not always obvious where the blow is until you look really...

EAS 'hidden' fault codes - anyone know what they mean?

Thanks... But the compressor should run if I earth out the orange wire? Because I tried that and it still doesn't run... How does the compressor run through the thermal switch? I'm guessing the orange wire goes to the thermal switch, which then connects to the brushes, so if the thermal switch...

EAS 'hidden' fault codes - anyone know what they mean?

Ok - I ran the compressor with EAS unlock software and it seems ok, can't stop the air from escaping no matter how hard i push my finger over the outlet so it should be ok.. The thermal switch, I installed a jumper accross the thermal switch (Between the earth and the orange wire, in the form...

    P38 Diesel conversion...

TDV6.. don't know anything about it, would imagine it's a very expensive conversion.... I don't think there's anything out there which is ideally suited to the RR, unless you go to newer diesels, where the conversion would cost more than the cars worth in parts alone... Maybe something like a...

    P38 Diesel conversion...

Just out of complete curiosity, are there any good diesel conversions for the P38? From what i've been told the old BMW sourced 2.5 is a bit wheezy.... Just wondering if anyone found a diesel engine man enough for the P38 without being stupid? I read something somewhere about someone going for...

EAS 'hidden' fault codes - anyone know what they mean?

Hello, My P38 is slammed, doesn't appear to try to lift, I can start the pump using the EAS unlock software but it won't do it automatically... After clearing a load of random faults i get these: F8:128_hidden FA:128_hidden FB:128_hidden FC:128_hidden Along with something about the vehicle...

    EAS problems...

Nice to see a few more poeple defending the P38, it's restored my faith in it a bit!!!! I was worried for a while..... In all fairness I bought it as a none runner, I was just told many lies.. I'm not that worried about it, It was still cheap enough even given the headaches (I won't buy a none...

    EAS problems...

I'm actually kinda surprised by that... I didn't actually plan to get rid of my Range Rover but it narks me when you've spent the last few months solving one problem after another, you say something along the lines of 'Getting really effin sick of this might just chuck it / chop it / burn it or...

    EAS problems...

True, but who cares how expensive land cruiser parts are?? Ask an owner how dear they are!! They have absolutely no idea, because they don't break. Range rovers are not cheap, cheap to buy yes, but repair costs probably mean after a few years the land cruiser's a bargain in comparison! I've...

    EAS problems...

Yeah i'm beginning to wonder why i ever bought one of these heaps of **** myself. Seriously, what do you guys see in them? They're an electrical mine field, they leak (Seriously, every time i fix a leak i find a new one... I'm up to 8 so far), everything breaks, nothings cheap to replace, they...

    EAS problems...

With the software - so i take it from this the pump should fire up as soon as the engine is started? Like i said before I'm completely new to EAS... I'd like to keep the air suspension if the fix is relatively cheap and easy.. Or even just relatively cheap (spring kits can be bought for £250...

    EAS problems...

Quick bit of background, i bought my P38 as a none runner, had to jack it up and move it about a bit to fit a new fuel pump.. I figured the EAS system wasn't working sue to detecting wrong heights... Finally got EAS Unlock to connect (The OBD connector was knackered) and it had a few faults...

    P38 Oil leak

It turns out that the sensor is the crank knock sensor, is this a common issue??? Hopefully it just needs a new copper washer or something.. Need to remove the starter to get to it...

    EAS unlock will not synchronise

Cheers! That's exactly what i've been looking for - i spent hours searching for one of these and couldn't find anywhere in the UK which sold them!! :):)

Anyone got a scrap P38 door lying around? I need some window runners...

£100 each!!???!!!! Jesus... Well sounds like you're having the same issue as me!! I think i'll just hold out till a door comes up relatively close on fleabay then strip it like you suggested!

How you came to own a RR

I came to own my early P38 because some local yobbo's tried to steal it, and failed.. I got offered it for £500... Might have been a mistake but i bought it, it's got most of its service history, a gas conversion, 10 months MOT and 2 months tax, so i figured it was worth it.. It arrived at my...

    EAS unlock will not synchronise

I think i've found the problem..... The wire for the #1 pin to the OBD connector was completely rotted off... Looks like i need some sort of repair kit, or some spare terminals...
