Tyres, sure its a hot issue and been asked before

BFG's AT. Very long lasting, good on the road and good off. 'Nuff said!

    Wierd 'leccy window.

Glad that I am not alone, andii, not too sure about dry joint on PCB, seems to be more of a time delay relay sort of thing. Oh well, will continue to live with it, it's just a bit irritating when I want to drop the rears a bit for the dogs.

    Top speed?

Got 100 out of mine, very long gentle downhill gradient, took ages but the old girl did it, for areound 30 seconds!! Checked the speed on the Sat Nav fro slightly better accuracy than hte speedo.;)

    Wierd 'leccy window.

Here's a good one, this in no way is a problem to me as I don't use the rear windows often. Car is a 1998 300 Tdi XS. When I start the car, it takes about 6 minutes before I can use the rear windows, either from the front swithches or the ones on the doors. This time delay is constant and...

    Oils & Engines.

Thanks to all I also change things about twice a year as the total cost is only around £35.00 for oil, filter & fuel filter each time, even for the synthetic stuff. Like you Dr Evil mine is very similar spec, no cat etc and milage is around 8000. Motoring, mostly a few miles a day for dog...

    Oils & Engines.

Have just changed the oil on my Disco 300Tdi. Put in a fully synthetic Diesel oil (Fuchs Titan SynDiesel 10W 40). My question is:- Could I keep this oil in for say 10,000 miles rather than the normal 6,000. I normally use the semi synthetic variant of this oil and the engine is showing very...

97 japspec 300 written off by dustcart

OMG, so sorry to read about the hassle and the idiots form the concil. One other thing to play on would be the chappie from the council's comment that you made in the first post about clearing up the mess that the driver made the day before. Wish I lived a bit nearer to offer help, I know...

    P38 Wet Footwell

Just a thought, had the same problem with my Disco. Traced it back to the condensate drains being blocked from the air con. Not sure if the RR is the same, but have a look underneath, there are two rubber drains above the back of the gearbox, or at least that's where they are on the Disco...

P38 Good bits & bad bits.

Thank you Datatek & DougK. You both have confirmed my thoughts and am now happier in looking for the 'right' vehicle. As the Disco was the first non Mercedes we have had for many years, I was a little unsure about the running & maintainance. The Disco, however has been 98% reliable easy &...

P38 Good bits & bad bits.

OK, insanity has taken hold. Have a good, well specced (now) 300 Tdi Disco, and want to buy a second one. Having great difficulty finding a good well specced automatic. Had the mad idea that the P38 RR would fit the bill as virtually all have the toys we require. I am completely aware of the...

Major Oil Leak Holidaying in Cornwall - 2

As I live near Penryn, Styeve Toyer Land Rover is my prefered repair shop. They have always been great for either the small job that I can not do, or the large project which involved taking my Disco 300 tdi to bits and rebuilding to retro fit air con. Will be pestering them again soon as I...

Disco 1 rear passenger windows delay

Mine do the same thing, and sometimes the rear window wiper joins in just for the fun of it. All switches are OK and the fault does not appear every time I start the car and only lasts approx 3 - 5 mins then everything works as it should. Any further ideas anyone???:doh:

Another WVO thread, but with a specific question...

I mix 50/50 WVO & SVO with normal diesel. seems to go OK so far. Have not had ant problems with my 300 Tdi. However, and this is a BIG however, do NOT use veg oil anywhere near a Lucas pump. The pump is too fragile as my sister found out to her cost when she thought, 'if my brother can do...

HUOOOGGE Turbo lag on 2.5 TDi

My 300 TDi is very sluggish when cold, but when the blower starts to kick in at around 1500 rpm things get better. It is always much better when warm even at the bottom end before the turbo comes out to play. I have removed the EGR & removed the cat. Has K&N filter and Safari Snorkel. Have...

    door switch or clock spring?

Sounds to me like a dickey door switch. You should have a 45 second delay after removing the key and before opening the door to close windows/sunroof (if fitted). Once the driver's door is opened then this over rides the timer relay (annoyingly). How are your interior lights? Do they dim as...

    The Discovery 4

Liked the overall feeling of the interior, liked the bored out 3 litre engine, but that's about it! Do not see the point of making the thing a seven seater as standard (it was an HSE I looked at) as I need the back for the dogs. Still think the car looks like a hearse  Noted that the...

    wot no sounds

I agree with Discool, keep the aerial rod clean. I have had many cars over the years with leccy aerials and have had to lightly oil every one. Do not use WD 40 or similar. This is an electrical insulator which is the last thing you want.

    SLS 300tdi and TD5

My 300 TDI Handbook says 150Kg max. I tow A Bessacarr Cameo Twin axle which weighs in at 1750KG and I have trouble loading the 'van to achieve a nose weight of 100 Kg. I sometimes have to use the front internal water tank to add a bit of weight. I also use a Shocklink which takes all the...

    1995 300Tdi EGR removal

Cyanide, I seriously thought about the twisted performance kit and very nearly went down that road, but in the end I found it wasn't worth it for my requirements. I have had the following done to my 300Tdi; Removal of EGR, Removal of Cat, (replaced with Defender front pipe) added K & N air...

    Disco struggling to tow

Oh to have only spent £450. My disco has cost me at least 4 times that to put right. Call me 'old fashioned, but I like a car that does not drop oil all over the drive, does not shred altenators and other ancillary bits and that I can drive any where at any time with confidence. Why LR have...
