bugger, the bottom mushroom bit you mean? it had like a built in sleeve which looked non metal, looks like i will be taking the auld girl tae bits again

there was no thrust washer in the kit? all that was in the old one was 2 x 2p pieces which i presume was to take up wear and no there isnt any shims on the top

ive got a s3 88 and its slitty diesel the now but quite slow and i fancy either a v8 or 200tdi just to make hills easier :) what mpg do you get out of the v8 driven sensibly? and what v8 is the best out of the rover selection? and what manual box goes on the v8? thanks in advance :)

fitted new kp bearins and put it together no play and its free to move as it sould so wtf do i need shims for ?

i think i have got to the bottom of it it may have been my drive flange at fault done my kp bearings also and found it had been shimmed wit two 2 pences lol

mine fell off at the down pipe just under the ns floor pan there was reek coming in as shes hardly gas tight it was so loud at 60 you couldnt even hear yourself speak, conversations were limited to down hills only:D

went to lamancha site and lost front wheel drive, stripped out the short shaft and hub as the kp bearings and uj were shot but the half shaft was intact so i presume the diff has blown probably a planetary gear as the other side still turns the prop ?? so what i thought was a simple halfshaft...

if you are going on a long journey in your series theres a good chance the emergency vehicles will be for you anyway:p:p:D i used earplugs in my denzel s3 when the exhaust fell orf and to be fair i probably wouldnt hear emergency vehicles with an exhaust on noisy old tractor that she is

i fitted 33 inch tyres and it cured it hard revving at 60mph, had to modify the arches a bit tho

made a panel to replace the rear window in my s3 hopefully it will stop some of the rain blowing down my neck but i doubt she will ever be wind and water tight
