Does a Ronbox cause IRD failure ?

Hi Epicuser, Thanks for the info. Is the MAF easy to get at once you've got it out of the housing. What's best to clean it with, switch cleaner or brake cleaner, as I believe they are a bit delicate ? All the best, Perkins

Does a Ronbox cause IRD failure ?

Hi Teddywood, Thanks for the reply. I changed all the inlet hoses fro new and did the manifold, but nothing forward of that in the system. Did you do the intercooler too and turbo etc - if so, how did you go about it ? Call me a bit thick, but where does all this oil get into the inlet system...

Does a Ronbox cause IRD failure ?

Hi to all in landy land, I've been steadily working my way through all the problems on my 55 plate TD4 which the previous owner had chosen to ignore ! Hopefully the last for now is the sluggish performance low down. I've done all the EGR blanking, BMW modified crankcase breather, changed...

Can a Freelander be reliable ????

Yep, agree with that about local garages. Mine has a full service history with only 60k on the clock, but most of the stamps are with a service centre, not a 4x4 specialist. When I started to go through it bit by bit, I'm amazed at how much has been missed or ignored - and simple obvious stuff...

Can a Freelander be reliable ????

Hi all, I know this probably seems like a daft question given all the tales of woe on this website about Freelanders, but if a series 1 was looked after properly from new, by someone who actually understood 4x4s and in particular the achilles heels of a Freelander could it be as reliable as a...

    Rusty rear window pillars........

Are you having a laugh - £500 + for both sides !!!! I know 'proper' Landy parts are dear but that must set a new record. I'll have to get my thinking cap on for this one. Cheers, Perkins

    Rusty rear window pillars........

Hi All, Does anyone out there know the proper name for the pillar in between the fixed quarterlight and the sliding section for the rear passenger doors on the 5 dr version ? These are the black rubber covered sliders that the window goes up and down in. Both mine are really rusty and need...

    Smoking TD4.............

Thanks for your ideas. Cleaned the sensor off with Switch Cleaner, tightened the hoses a bit more and then took it for a decent blast up the motorway. I think you were right about a build up of oil in the system, as after a few miles the smoking stopped and it's running sweet as a nut now...

    Smoking TD4.............

Hi to All........ My first post - I just swapped my old but reliable Hilux (am I mad ?)for a 2005 Freelander TD4 and the fun's started already. I'm pretty used to fixing old Brit bikes and cars and so I'm not too daunted by venturing into 'Land Rover' land. Having read all the do's and don'ts...
