    Windscreen Issue

Have owned this car since Febraury 2011 and only recently noticed an annoying area on the windscreen which doesn't wipe properly. Worst in the dark but still a pain in daylight. It is right in field of view but I can't see any evidence of an earlier chip or crack repair. Cleaned the screen with...

    Instant heat?

Many thanks for the responses. Now the silly question - how do I know if I have a FBH? Me thinks that as I am getting 33mpg at present maybe a new pair of thermals would be a better solution?

    Instant heat?

Can anyone advise how long it should take a discovery td5 cabin heater to warm up from cold? Mine takes about 10 minutes. Is this normal or do I have a problem? Isn't the heater diesel powered or does it rely on the engine warming up (this seems to be the case with mine). Thanks in advance for...

Any connection between 3 Amigos and fog lamp?

Thanks for the encouragement. Checked original SVS and it is giving all correct readings. Will give it a go over the weekend with the old one. If I lash it up there is always the "new" SVS to fall back on. If the lights don't come on again I may leave it or be brave enough to fit the new one...

Any connection between 3 Amigos and fog lamp?

Thanks again Sierrafery. I studied this very good article before jumping in to replace the SVS. Do I take it you feel the connection in the modulator is duff so I need to do Option B - which is the mod to the SVS and not to the connection in the modulator unit? If so, would you consider my...

Any connection between 3 Amigos and fog lamp?

Thanks for that Sierrafery. I had the car put on a doiagnostic about a month ago and was told it was the shuttle valve switch so decided to save myself the £400 I was quoted and do the job myself. Previously a friend had put the car on diagnostic and it had come up with SVS as well as something...

Any connection between 3 Amigos and fog lamp?

Couple of weeks ago after getting increasingly fed up with the erratic visits by our three chums I replaced the ABS shuttle valve switch (using crude lever/mirror method) with a brand new one and felt pretty smart for about 250 miles - which included towing a boat on the motorway for over 120...

New Air Suspension Bags - Only one Inflates

I replied to your advice yesterday but it seems to have gone AWOL. Maybe I didn't press the correct key on my computer keyboard? Anyway - as I had to go and take dogs to kennels near Congleton there happened to be a Land Rover emporium nearby and I was able to get hold of the air pipe/switch...

New Air Suspension Bags - Only one Inflates

Pity I didn't know about "bag stabbing" before but we may have a success story. Had to take dogs to kennels which happened to be a few miles from a used Land Rover emporium, I managed to pick a used valve block for £20 and have now re-fitted everything and we seem to be in business. If she...

New Air Suspension Bags - Only one Inflates

Thanks Sierrafery. I presume the epoxy should be put on the coupling thread rather than in the recess then pressed home?

New Air Suspension Bags - Only one Inflates

Success - but no success! The pipes appear to be the correct way round and she dropped as expected. Sad thing is I think I have now stripped the thread in the compressor. Voss coupling will now not stay in place. Nice to see Land Rover made it out of plastic! Is there anything I can do apart...

New Air Suspension Bags - Only one Inflates

Thanks for the advice. Now for the really stupid bit - if I have "crossed" the supply pipes is there an easy way of identifying left to left/right to right or should I just slacken the union to release the air then re-pressurise and if both bags fill - presume they are on the right way? When I...

New Air Suspension Bags - Only one Inflates

Many thanks for suggestions. As the car was still semi-supported by axle stands I decided to remove these and see what happened first. Obviously the tow bracket was practically touching the ground however I started her up - and up she went - on one side only -again. Slackened unions on...

New Air Suspension Bags - Only one Inflates

Managed to replace air bags on V reg Discovery Td5 yesterday and followed instructions provided on www.discovery2.co.uk to the letter (excellent source of help). After fitting offside rear bag I started engine briefly (to run compressor) to see if all was ok - it was. I then let out the air...

TD5 Back end drops - only when I sit on it!

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I can't do anymore work on the car now until August when I get back home. Will certainly try your recommendations.

OK guys. Thanks for the input. New air springs and sensors it is!!

Occassional vists from the "Three Amigos"

Second post - Very impressed with the wealth of knowledge out there. I have been visted a few times over the last month or so by the "Three Amigos". They usually disappeared after I re-started the engine. Over the last couple of days they have greeted me at start up and not gone away until I...

TD5 Back end drops - only when I sit on it!

Thanks. I bought the car in February and see a new height sensor had been fitted before Christmas. Is it likely that both will need replacing or can you just "give them a wipe" or something?

TD5 Back end drops - only when I sit on it!

My first post - probably in the wrong section so apologies. When I sit on the rear bumper (I am a wasted 15.5st lardy) the back end drops. When I start the engine she raises to the correct height. My worry is, I bought the car to tow a boat and presume that when I hook up, the nose weight will...

New boy - Glutton for punishment!

Thanks for the welcome. Bit lost but hope to get the hang of things shortly. What do I do to ask where I can get a replacement ACE plug from? The one on the bottom you have to take off to get to the filter. Don't think the one currently in situ will survive much longer. Thanks.
