Sigh, thought it would be a nice drop in and bolt up, nothing wrong with my 3.5 bar would like more power and for it to start easier (running manual choke, but the main pain is when its wet or damp weather, always starts just takes a long time, guess its the issue with running points etc)

By chance a mate has a 4.6 V8 from a Range Rover, I was looking todo some upgrades to my 3.5 V8 on carbs, but it might be better just to swap the whole engine out for a much more powerful unit. Anyone got a ball-park figure for what i would get charged to-do this??? cheers

Taken from a 2010 Puma i was told, wanted to fit them to my 90, but given i have an old one it means i have to cut the wheel arches which i don't want todo, they go for over 500 on ebay was looking for £450..

Rebuild doc attached, i got the date wrong it was 98 the engine got rebuilt it had 48k on it, they reset the clocks and its now showing 12k.

Well it was 20 years ago :), I will scan and post the details..

Starting wise it take upto 10 seconds before it will fire and kick over, it does not fail but take a while, the indie say this is mostly likely due to the compression being down, additionally they have test driven the car and it is not performing like a standard 3.5 V8, struggles to get above 55...

Thanks for the reply, they have not done (nor have i have asked for compression tests), they are being fair by saying this is what they think it is but they are not V8 experts. Interestingly the engine has only 12k on it since a rebuild, but that rebuild was in 1990 :), its an 85...

LOL, looks like my quest for power might be due to the fact its down on compression, see my other post :). My indie says these are a nightmare to setup so thats out :)

My 3.5 V8 90 is currently at an indie having a few jobs done, one was to check the poor starting, they have said its down on compression (which would explain why i have been looking to get more power out of it :)), they mentioned it could be the cam shaft (lobs was also mentioned), but they are...
