thanks to you both, i will get too it after new years, in reguards to did i mark it before dismatling it, no as i received the engine, as a spare with my landy and am just putting it back together, it was in about 5 box's

yes the chain wheels are off, along with the chain and tensioners etc any idea how long this can take to do? and how hard it is for someone who's never done anything like this before? thanks again

Hi all, my gf and i are currently refubishing my 2 1/4 litre diesel engine and have got to the point of putting the timing equipent back on, but are a little unsure as the best way to time it up. Any Advice?? I have found various guides on how to do it for a petrol engine, bt i'm sure there...

i must say i'm most envious of the obvious experience and availability of tool's etc that are shown in theis thread, but its really fascinating to see.

the previous owner of my series 3 changed the handle on the overdrive leaver to look like a big metal c0ck, I know it vibrates then the engine is running, but could his wife not find anything smaller to use.

you can get the full workshop manuel's for most "real" landrovers on ebay on a cd for about £1, i find them to be a real god send. Just got a series 2, think it's going to be a little bit of a project.
