hi realist,welcome to the madhouse,if you have an 06 diesel freelander/td4,then you have no worries about a timing belt change,its a bmw engine and it has a timing chain, that should last for the life of the engine .tim.
only tried 2t oil when i noticed i was putting unleaded in my td4s fuel tank,got to about 4.5 litres then the penny dropped. topped up with derv, put a litre of 2t oil in,said a prayer and drove on.to be honest i think after that mix,the td4 ran the best it ever has under my ownership.tim

hi nick,sounds like good advice to me,got same sort of lack of power with my td4,using the millers power sport add at present,to see if it helps.i think engine oil should be5/30 fully synthetic,lots of views on this though good luck. tim.
as op says ,td4 has a chain,they do in most cases last the life of the engine.the indi chap who i take my td4 to was telling me the chains can get worn and rattle,he has in the past changed one, but not an easy job.tim
hi danboy,just a point on your clutch prob, was the slave cylinder renewed when the guy did your clutch? if it was then your problem sounds like the master cylinder.most of the other probs sound like simple fixes as others have advised .tim
hi folk, i need your advice/opinions, the rear diff on my td4.it has a slight oil leak on the input side.i am wondering if anyone reading this has replaced the oil seal at home,or is it a job for my local indi lr garage. thanks tim:)
