Nah, I've got a Disco, had two, just never used the key to lock it. :D

    1999 discovery alarm fault

I thought that if you lock the car with the key in the lock, manually, then that doesn't set the alarm. Maybe I'm wrong though....

    2003 td5 fuel cap/catch

Search on ebay. They're a couple of squid. Silly design really. A little bit of squiggly plastic is never going to have a long working life.

How long for your heater to warm up...

I suppose it depends on how cold it is to start with, how long you run the engine whilst clearing the windows, what sort of journey it is (pootling around estate roads or on a main road) and suchlike things. But the TD5 is a fairly big lump, so whatever, it's going to take a while for it to warm...

Does your Disco II have hair suspension?

No hair suspension on mine, but I often drive with a hair dryer in the passenger seat. :)

    bootspace seats

GreenHornet is right about the back springs. All 7 seaters had the air suspension and had type-approval. There were no 7 seaters without air suspension. So if you have springs at the back, beware as the insurance may be invalidated. If you have air - good luck. I would think that the easiest way...

    Is my Disco a MK1 or MK2?

Always good to know what sort of a car you're buying, before you buy it that is. :o

    D2 - chassis

I owned a 2000 D2 and now own a 2004 D2. They all have the same chassis. The earlier one had widespread and terminal chassis rot at the back. The new(er) one is not bad. I guess that they all suffer from it, but as has been said, it'll depend on how they've been treated, whether they've lived in...

So to recap: A 200tdi is an original Discovery1. A 300tdi is a facelifted Discovery1 A TD5 is a Discovery2 A TD5 after 2002 is a facelifted Discovery 2 A Discovery3 is the more square newer ones A Discovery4 is an updated Discovery3. Just look at pictures either on here, or ones on...

    model cutoffs and interchangability

The MY moniker stands for model year. The way these things go is that, for example, a 1998my is made with the spec for that year, then usually sold that year. But quite often vehicles aren't sold for a year or two, even longer sometimes after they're made. So you're usually going to get a bit of...

    Correct Radio .

Have a search on ebay for the Visteon unit, there were a couple on there in the USA, not that you possibly want one from there, but there's a picture, so you can tell what it looks like.

    Correct Radio .

If the Harmon Kardon system is fitted, there's a CD changer under the driver's seat and an amp under the passengers. There will also be speakers everywhere!

    Correct Radio .

My 04 Disco has a Visteon 6500. There is a 5500 model as well, the 6500 having a CD player instead of the casette player. That's of course what the lower spec models had in them and they are quite adequate. Depends what type of head unit was fitted with your spec of car really, could it have...
